I will not be worried about Isaac (that's what I told my DH anyway).

He sms'd me this morning, my reply?
"I am not worried about it"

In my head I'm going but he doesn't know that...

It is what it is...

Luckily it looks like Isaac won't be too much of a problem for Orlando...
unfortunately it looks like it could hit poor New Orleans again

Tonight DH and I have been discussing what we will do if the city is badly affected and we have to drop it from our route... I really hope it's OK cause I really want to see New Orleans .

For those of us hitting Florida in a couple of weeks or so I'm watching the two storms boiling up in the Atlantic behind Isaac. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo_atl.shtml
Luckily at this stage the NHC doesn't give them a high probability of forming a bad Tropical Storm or Hurricane. Fingers crossed they're right!!!

11 sleeps here!

Finally booked an ADR at PCH Grill for brekkie. Told The Grinch it was for the kids. I've been making a list of offsite places to eat as we are sandwich lunchers and have a condo so we will make our own breakfasts. One son wants Bubba Gump as he's obsessed with prawns since his trip to Sydney. He even demanded a bag of prawns at Paddy's Market instead of a soft toy. So we will be having eats at Bubba Gump or the like, too bad if Mum is highly allergic to fish and seafood!

Fiddling around about kids shoes for Disneyland. I think I'm going to buy them some Crocs when we get to the US. One son has finally accepted he's not going to troop around in gumboots. Can you imagine visiting Disneyland in gumboots in September?

We fly into Orlando in a few days and my poor mum is worried about us after watching the news last night. Although I am a worrier normally I am surprisingly calm, assuring her that it will all be over by the time we fly in (Sunday our time) and anything can happen anytime anywhere (we live just north of Christchurch and know all about that sort of thing!) I don't mind if another one comes up while we are there, as long as we get there.
Have been reading also about the increased seismic activity in California, we have a night in LA on way over and 4 days in San Fran at end of September. But life's an adventure right???!!!

About the California seismic activity - my sister who knows I am paranoid about earthquakes (I couldn't sleep all night our one night in San Francisco) kindly pointed out the earthquake cluster to me yesterday, and offered to go on the trip in my place. Not going to happen, but it's given me something else to stress about, as I tend to worry about everything that could possibly go wrong this close to a trip.

Oh dear...sorry Karen but I'm now a regular visitor on the National Hurricane Center website!!

Actually, although I have this scary power to destroy currency we usually have the opposite effect on weather - we've generally been pretty lucky ( and yes I'm touching wood while I say that...)

17 sleeps

Karen you need to do a poll! Any excuse right? I've never been to Texas so I'd take that option.

Being inland, Orlando usually escapes the full force of the hurricanes, but every now and then one gets that far. What Orlando does get is the rain fall out from the hurricane. It just means you need many more rain ponchos in your bag than you think and you need them in your bag before you get to a park, they are expensive in the park. It's not too bad - it can mean rather than just an afternoon downpour it rains all day, but if you have a lot of light weight disposable rain gear and suitable foot wear, it's amazing how much does stay operational in the parks. There is a reason September is low season!

It does look like Orlando is going to get quite a bit of rain from Issac.

Remember that, on Air NZ, you can start your movies as soon as you get onboard. So, if there are lots that you want to watch, board as soon as you can and get settled in so you can start watching your movie while all the slow pokes get themselves settled It does get paused quite a bit in the beginning as all the announcements are made by the flight attendants but it's still worth doing.
