Cool! I remember the lake. I remember the tunnel. I do not remember the soccer field and that cool picnic area. I love how many fish you were able to catch.

Your fishing trip looked fun !! My kids would love that !!

I have a fun little story. DH goes to a place in Virginia every July for a huge church charity fish fry that his family has been participating in for over 20 years. After DH's father passed away, he kind of took his spot and carries on the tradition.

Anyway, it is in the mountains and there is a mountain stream at the campground that always has some great rainbow trout. Well DS and several of the kids were playing in the stream one year and DH heard a commotion while they were cooking and someone comes running out to say that DS had caught a rainbow trout - BARE HANDED.

Everyone was so excited and DH was so proud I wanna say DS was 9 or 10 at the time. He and the kids were playing in the stream and a trout wandered by them and DS was able to force it towards the side of the stream and was able to get up under it and flip it up onto the bank. Therefore officially catching it bare handed.

Great post! You made even fishing really interesting!

It seems like the two of you had a great time on that excursion and it certainly was great for James that he could get so much attention from the teacher.

what a fun excursion and great CM! I admit, I'm amazed at the success rate, had I known that, the boys may have wanted to try it. Very fun that you guys did different things than we did, makes for a fun comparison.

I like that tunnel, didn't see the picnic area, that's pretty neat over there.

The stop sign on the left, the one in the center, or the one on the right???

We walked to a soccer field and went to a picnic table under a pavilion, where Maryann showed the boys how to knot their hooks. These were not the actual hooks they’d be using.

Do they save those for the Deep Sea fishing excursion???

Then they stepped over to the soccer field and practiced casting to a hula hoop. I guess casting to a #10 washer would have been expecting too much.

Before we ended up changing a previous trip and didn't make Vero Beach as planned, that soccer field was high on Andrew's list of interests!!!

Because, well, who doesn't like bacon???

Let’s watch James’ casting form.

That's not such good casting form for James. He is nowhere near landing in that hula hoop this time around..............

A couple of times James had asked me if I wanted to fish, but I said that I hadn’t paid for the excursion, so it was just him. But then Maryann said “the dads can fish if they want to”, so I gave it a whirl. James went on photography duty.

Oh yes. Fish fear me! (Especially when I’m wearing my “A Goofy Mind is a Happy Mind” t-shirt.) No bluegill for me, I only go for bass.

Maybe James DOES get it from you............

Up next: Sharktooth Necklaces and I find Gram’s bathing suit
Hopefully you don't find Gram's bathing suit because you hooked it trying to fish again later............

BTW, if I were still playing, my guess would NOT have been zero Judy's..............

the first 2 with the "Playful Pastime" sheet. She is holding the sheet. The hands look female, but not teenager young.

Ohhhhh.

I thought for sure that you'd edit that guess once you went back through.

Nope, Judy does make an appearance in this chapter.

Well, I'm giving you an eagle eye point for that because I know you spotted something that went unnoticed by many.

Potentially? You got a call from the front desk, didn't you?

Is there a story behind that, or did they just pick a Disney character?

Hmmm... a fish fry?

Exactly! It makes perfect sense.

Now that's how you fish. Let someone else do all th dirty work. Just cast and reel.

All caught up!

The early-morning pictures of the ocean are beautiful - so peaceful. And I enjoyed the tour of the resort. It looks like such a fun place.

I always enjoy a good George Costanza reference, so kudos on that one!

What a fun excursion the fishing was! I can't believe how many fish they caught.
