Hotel room pictures, Dinner, and our Wicked evening! - part 1
We arrived back at the hotel and our room was ready. So, we got our luggage, and went up to the 22nd floor where our room was. We took some pictures, mostly because we knew Dad had done it before. Plus, it was a very nice room. You can see in the one picture the little kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker, fridge, dishwasher and sink.
![]() The couch doubled as a pullout bed but we didn’t use it for that, ![]() and then the very comfy bed. ![]() The shower was super nice too. ![]() ![]() My only complaint about the room was that it was freezing cold in there. It took us days to finally get it to a comfortable temperature. Oh and I had to laugh. The one guy at the desk who talked to us said “coffee” in a New Yorker accent. But then I thought the way we talked probably sounded like we were from the country. I love accents. Well, we both napped for a while and froze to death in the near freezing temperatures. Then we changed into some nicer clothes for the restaurant and then the play later. My mom found an Indian restaurant on Scout Mob, one of her apps that gave us 50% off! Nice going Mom! We had a little trouble catching a taxi from our hotel. Eventually we did and it was a nice car. But he was one of those taxi drivers. I don’t know how many of you have been to NYC, but you see some crazy taxi drivers speeding around turns and just going kinda insane. He was one of them. He got us to the restaurant in good time, though. So we got to Kiran Indian Cuisine. The place was empty except for one other table of gentlemen discussing politics, but they left soon after we came. The food was absolutely incredible. I had almost forgotten how much I loved those tastes! Here is a picture I took looking out of the window near us onto the street. I loved all the lava lamps they had around. I haven’t seen those things in forever. Haven’t they heard the 70’s are over? Anyway, I also liked the lights they had, they just seemed to set a nice mood. ![]() ![]() There was also a TV right near those lights that was playing these Indian music videos. It was funny to see how traditional Indian dance was mixed with modern, western culture. While we were eating the TV in the back was playing the news. They talked about a terrible hail storm that had occurred in Texas. The hail was the size of golf balls or bigger and left huge dents in cars! Here some pictures of the food. Can you tell which ones Mom took?? ![]() ![]() ![]() continued in next post

Hotel room pictures, Dinner, and our Wicked evening! - part 2
continuation from previous post
After the restaurant we started walking to the Gershwin Theater where Wicked was being shown at 8. We weren’t sure we would get there in time so we took a taxi and arrived there around 7:15. We took some pictures with the sign and inside the theater, but not during the show. ![]() ![]() This blurry one says “Drive (or fly) carefully.” Sorry guys. I was still a novice picture-taker with my mom’s phone at this time. Plus, I was on an escalator. ![]() ![]() ![]() I took a picture of the script for Phantom of the Opera because Marlene is a huge fan right now. She sings the songs like nonstop. Plus, it was pretty cool. ![]() ![]() Inside the actual theater I took a bunch of pictures. There were gears and ropes to both sides and the map of Oz as the curtain in the middle. You can’t really tell, but there were also different levels of the front of the stage in the shapes of gears. It’s difficult for you to see what the map says, but the important part is the Emerald City in the middle. There was a light behind it glowing green, obviously. Oh and the dragon at the top was pretty nifty as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The play was absolutely wonderful. It was funny at times and at others it was emotional and sad or inspirational. I loved it and I got a little teary-eyed at the end. Just fantastic. That ended at 10:45. Then, on our way out, I snapped a photo of the sign, “You are now leaving Oz.” I found that very fitting. ![]() Also, Mom and I almost fell down the stairs while I was trying to get the picture, what with the whole crowd trying to leave behind us. We survived, though. Thanks for the concern. As we were walking back to our hotel from the theater, I took a picture of Times Square at night. ![]() There, you didn’t really need lights because of all the billboards and stuff. Oh, another thing I wanted to add about Times Square is that there are advertisements everywhere. You can’t help but look at them and it’s slightly overwhelming and surreal at the same time. Apparently my dad watches the David Letterman show so my mom snapped a picture of the sign outside. ![]() On our way up the elevator I noticed that there’s no 13th floor. Oh superstitious New Yorkers…you make me smile. ![]() ![]() By the way, my dad called at 11:30 to check up on us and our day. So, we ended up not getting to bed until midnight or so. Just remember that little tidbit. Coming up: Today (or maybe another day) and Rockefeller Center Link to off-topic detour

Hi Glen. Am a newcomber to your TR. And I have been enjoying it greatly so far.
I decided to comment because of the Wicked portion. I went with my oldest daughter on her Sr. trip last year to DC/Philly/NYC and we went to Wicked. I so loved that play. It was absolutely amazing and would so love to see it again. My niece bought me the soundtrack for Christmas last year and I love it. So your daughter's/wife's pictures brought back lots of memories. So, thank you to them and I am so glad that they are having a great time. And I am thoroughly enjoying your collaberated TR. Can't wait to read the whole thing! |

Well yeah! (note to self: google "Fogo de Chao" also.) That was round-trip, right? Biscuit was probably molded into the shape of a guy sitting with a steering wheel in his hands. Quote:
Up here, we love a good handshake. ![]() Hiya PlutosRHM55! Thanks for joining in!Quote:
My daughter Lauren (in some of the NYC pictures) is writing the New York portion of the trip, since I wasn't along for it. I knew about the Naked Cowboy but didn't edit her writing so that you folks could read it from the perspective of someone who didn't know to expect such a sight! Ahh, that's interesting....I didn't realize that Mickey and Minnie would hit you up if you asked for a picture. Good info!

Congrats Rosie,
I am back to being the bridesmaid again. Unless that is the top of Judy's hair in the picture leaving the theater where they almost fell down the stairs .. then it would be 3.

Very nice room!
I've never had Indian but it did look interesting. We did have Ethiopian over Easter in Austin, TX. That was an experience. Sounds like you had and exciting ride to the theater, glad you arrived in one piece. Michelle loved the show. She had to walk out with the cd and a shirt. They also caught a free show of David Letterman while there last year. Does a late night equal a late morning?
