What's the latest you've booked a last minute cruise?

Okay, time for plan B. We were scheduled to take a Fantasy cruise in May. We had a medical issue pop up and decided to postpone until late summer/early fall. Everything has been cancelled and refunded. Now, it's time to plan the next one. We're thinking we might wait until 7-10 days out, watch the last minute deals and book & go on the fly. I have all of my research and packing lists from the May cruise, so I think we could do it. We're even considering trying Aug. or Sept. , provided there's a good deal to be had, and we're in a "just roll with it" frame of mind. My question is; what's the latest you've booked a cruise? Any problems getting your cruise documents? Any unforseen complications I'm overlooking? Thanks for the help!

Your best price might be 75 days out, just after the PIF date. That is usually when they announce the specials with lower rates.

When I was married in the 1980's we both had flexible jobs and our TA would call Thursday for Friday cruises out of LA. We would book the cruise on Thursday and be getting on the ship Friday for a 3 day cruise.

We've booked 5 days out before, but not on Disney. It was Costa. We paid $399/pp for spa suites which included three spa treatments per stateroom per adult. The sailing departed on Christmas day. Got their last four rooms. Flights were very pricy for this, but it wasn't a problem at all. In fact, it was the easiest boarding of all 17 of my cruises.

We went on the Magic two weeks ago and there were some very good OGT and VGT deals up until the last couple of days. The ship wasn't full. If you had kids, it was harder to get the GT rate as it seemed that the ship was full with children as they ran the kids' free promotion during the winter.

I booked a TA rate maybe a month out. It was a 5 nighter on the Dream and it was awesome and an amazing deal. I'd love to catch another one.

I've booked 8 days out, and added passengers 5 days out, on a DCL cruise before.

Nope. I even upgraded at the port. I'd do it again in a minute if I could get the opportunity.
