When I opened the. Podcast app, it automatically started downloading the PCC 3 podcast.

i use RSS radio right now for my podcasts; there's a free and a paid version, and while i like the app a lot, i'm still using the free version as i haven't had an overarching need for more functions yet. i may have to give this new app a whirl, but i'll probably end up sticking with what i already know. Sent from my iPad using DISBoards, please forgive brevity or errors. |

Watch your data usage
Be careful what you enable in the app. I had it set up to automatically download new content as it became available. In about 6 days I used almost 1 Gig of data! I thought it would only download over wifi. The app works ok, I just don't want anybody to get a surprise on their next wireless bill.

This app is very very slow on my 8gig 3GS. When I start the app it takes about 45 seconds before I can tap a podcast. Then every button I press has at least a 10 second lag. I'll wait for the first update, but if it doesn't get better ill probably delete.

Just wanted to share that there are some alternatives to the Podcast app (that are a little more functional) and have been out for a while. My favorites are:
-Downcast -Instacast (I apologize, I can't post links yet) ![]() With either, you can set up automatic download feeds very simply. I use Downcast, and for example, it will download the DIS automatically as soon as it is released and automatically place it in my Downcast Playlist. I can even set it up to only download the next time I connect to Wi-Fi if I'm conscious of my data plan usage. |

I am a fan of PodCruncher, however I am coming around to like the apple podcast app. One thing that I don't like with the apple app is that it will only download the latest podcast in the feed, and not all new ones. PodCruncher downloads all new podcasts in the feed automatically.
Hopefully Apple will push an update to fix some of the bugginiess of the app. I doubt they will add the automatic downloading of all new podcasts in a feed, but I can always hope. One other thing that we could ask for from the Dis team is an RSS feed that only contains the entire podcast in it's entire form, not broken into separate segments. I know the there used to be a link on the show notes page for the single mp3 file download, but I have not seen it there lately. Just my two cents😊 Sent from my iPod touch using DISBoards

I've been using Downcast for quite a while now. I still think I like it better than the Apple podcast app. It has a feature that allows you to swipe forward or backward in 30 second intervals. This makes it a lot easier when I'm driving the car to keep my hands on the wheel.
