Prayers needed for close friend hit on motorcycle - The DIS Discussion Forums

Just found out a dear friend of DW (Thumper_Man's Wife) and mine was hit while riding his motorcycle. He was attempting to break the world record while at the same time, raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation. During a stop to stretch his legs, he was hit by a car. He is currently in ICU, in a hospital in Houston. He loved to ride and better yet, he loved raising money for the MAWF. As a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he raised $10k in one year to help the MAWF. Now prayers are needed for him.

He has done such wonderful things for this charity and I am sure this will just egg him on even further. Strength be given to him and his family as they go through the grueling process of recovery.

What a horrible accident. Prayers being sent to your friend.
I feel like we have a lot of motorcycle accidents exactly like this one where I live. People clearly aren't paying attention when they are driving.

Any updates today?

We learned he was not actually on his motorcycle when he got hit. He stopped to stretch his legs a bit when he got hit. We still don't know the details as to how he got hit. By that I mean, we know he was hit by a car, we just don't know if the driver veered off the road and hit him, or if maybe he stopped to close to the side of the road and stepped out into traffic. We know what his injuries are and hear he is recovering nicely, but is not out of hot water yet. We're waiting to hear more details. Thanks for your prayers.

Thank you all for your prayers! They are greatly appreciated.

This accident just goes to show that no matter how careful you are on the roads, or how experienced you are, accidents do happen.

Update as of today: He has had surgery to reconstruct his pelvis which was shattered in the accident. Things are looking up a little, he did take a couple of breaths on his own yesterday which is progress. Unfortunately, with every step forward, there seems to be a step back...He may lose his entire leg...Only time will tell and all we can do is pray and think positively.
