I find it funny that people would bring Starbucks INSTANT and think that is better. I don't think Starbucks coffee is all that, when freshly brewed and hot. Lukewarm instant? IMHO that's just nasty!
I would order a carafe of coffee and the next morning add to it the Starbucks VIA. Much closer to the strong coffee I fresh grind in the morning. I don't find weak coffee anywhere fine. Normally I order expresso when out and water it down to what suits my taste. To each his own.

Maybe I will give the Cove a try this cruise.

Is there a menu available?
I'm the same way and my local supermarket just started selling it in powdered form, that's going on my list for sure. I hope you find some too!

If you are in concierge they have AWESOME coffee. I am a tea person myself. But my hubby was very happy with the coffee in concierge. We were lucky enough to have a great machine in our room in February. But we are traveling standard class this time so I think hubby will be sticking with tea this time as well.

This seems like a great idea! After reading this thread, I was planning on pre-grinding and pre-packaging grounds and using my pour-over Melitta Ready Set Joe (I got it on Amazon), but I'll probably grab some Via packets as well. (For hot water, I was going to pop up to the drink station--our cabin is not far from the aft stairwell.)

One question I never saw fully answered--do they have cream or half-and-half at the drink stations and/or in the restaurants? Or is it the non-dairy kind?

Thanks!

No need to bring creamer packets.
I bring Via packets. I order a carafe of coffee and a carafe of hot water from room service. The coffee (not good at all) comes with sugar and packets of creamer. Problem solved! And I am much happier.
I'm not a coffee snob, but my goodness! The coffee was terrible...

so, is it true that you pay for the coffee, but they have danish and pastries for free?

I just read this whole thread and I'm still confused. Do they have real 1/2 and 1/2 on board the ship? I can't drink coffee or even the Starbucks Via without 1/2 and 1/2. Milk doesn't do it. Powdered creamer doesn't do it. 1/2 and 1/2 is a must have.

I need flavored creamer and I bring my own on the ship. I can purchase it at my local grocery store in packages of 24 and they are not needing to be refrigerated.

What ship were you on in February? It had a coffee maker in the room? We stayed Cat V on the Fantasy in May and had no coffee maker there, but the awesome cappuccino machine in the lounge was almost our favorite thing about the trip. We are in a Cat T on the Magic in a few weeks and have been bemoaning the fact that we won't have decent coffee this time.

I was curious if anyone has used one of these?

Slick Drip

One of these, my container of caramel swirl ground coffee, and some hot water, and I should be good to go.
Have not used a collapsible model (brilliant), but our grocery stores carry a Melitta brand hard plastic version that's $4. We took with us on the Dream last year and husband has taken it along on a couple trips since.

I am totally planning to bring creamer (there are soooo many more delicious flavours available in the States!) and cream aboard my next cruise leaving in T Minus 56 sleeps. It'll be packed right along side my wine bottles in the carry on.

We had a fridge in our cabin on the Magic in February. Are fridges not in every cabin??

Is the coffee different in concierge? We just booked a cruise on the Dream for next year and I NEED my morning coffee! We have booked with concierge and am hoping this means I can get something decent each morning..
