Pirates and Pals

Greetings all

Just a quick question for someone that has done the Pirates and Pals fireworks show. My DD will be 4 when we go on our trip in November and we were discussing doing the Wishes Dessert or Pirates. I have to say Pirates looks like more fun and that it would be easier for her to do as she wouldn't have to just sit and wait for the fireworks to start she would actually be doing something. But I'm wondering is this geared more for little boys? I mean I know that it's Disney and they wouldn't make anyone feel excluded I'm just wondering with it being Pirates and such if maybe it's just more boyish....I hope that makes sense

Just wondering if anyone has taking their little on this and had any of the "Mooommmmm that's for boy's" whine if you know what I mean. Thanks for any advice!

Took my family on it a couple years ago as a surprise. I have two girls and we all had a great time. Other than C. Hook and Smee at the pre sail party and the great singing pirate we had on the voyage (we had fun!), there is not really much over the top pirates stuff. They loved Peter Pan after meet and greet.

The main thing is the fireworks from that location. The wife cried....I had a frog in my throat. It was really nice. Bring all your cameras!

Enjoy!

I can't seem to find an answer.. or I'm just not looking in the right places, but how much is it to do the P&PFS?

We are going in October and can't wait for the P&PFC! We'll have 4 adults and 6 kids (ages 3-6) for a birthday celebration. There will be one little girl with us so we have some Minnie Pirate stuff for her.

You could also dress the girls as Tinkerbell and Izzy (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates)...I would be that would be a big hit and get lots of fun character interaction.

we have done it twice - once with dd who was 5 at the time and thinks she's going to marry peter pan - she loved it so much we did it on our recent trip with all 3 dd's now 7, 6, and 4 - it's not princessy and stereotypically "girly" but they liked the activities - hook/smee meet-n-greet - dancing and silly games with them after - the pirate on the boat sings and is fun with trivia/prizes for many of the kids - electric water pageant is neat - of course, fireworks are fantastic from the water. peter pan is a quick meet-n-greet when you return.

we opted for it instead of the dessert thing b/c we were worried about eating our money's worth of desserts and keeping kids up that late in the MK - we did the pirates -n- pals cruise on a non-park day so kids had an easier time staying up.

Thank you all for the advise. We are flying in on a Saturday and should be at our hotel about 4, we kinda thought it might be a good thing to do that night though we aren't sure about that. However from what everyone has said it sounds like it will be great fun for her and I LOVE the idea of dressing her like Izzy she will love that Thank you all again!

We will be doing Pirates and Pals on the 4th of July. Thought it would be a great way to see the fireworks without dealing with the crowds.

Does it tend to book up early? We're going next week, I'm assuming it will be all booked for the 3rd.

We did the Pirates and Pals on our last trip in '09. 4 of us enjoyed the fireworks show, our youngest (who was 4 at the time) fell asleep as soon as we boarded the boat. The refreshments beforehand were way too much sugar! Now, don't get me wrong, I am not against my kids having sugar, nor am I against bending rules for special occasions (we wouldn't have booked this if we were, right? )But, I don't recall there being anything that didn't contain loads of sugar. Now, as for meeting the characters, that was fun for the kids. Though again, our youngest missed Peter because he was still sound asleep when we got off the boat. Incidentally, that December was something like the coldest December in 40 some years, it was COLD! lol They provided one thin blanket for each person. We all had jackets on, but it was still freezing. lol I don't want to say it was a bad experience at all, but not one we would do again.

A couple of questions on this. Is the experience still going on this summer? From reading the website, they stopped it on June 16th (last week). Are the views as good as seeing it from Main street or Castle area?

I just booked this for October 21, so it is still happening. I think sometimes that change the days of the week that they cruise.

I think I have asked this before but here goes just in case things have changed... the way I understand it is that your seats are pre-assigned. So no first come, first served or stupidly racing to the boat or arguing with other families. Is that still the case? If so..what do they do with a party of 5? How many can sit in the seat? Do the put the party across from each other or in back of each other? And the most important question of all..does the boat keep turning so that each side can get an unobstructed view? The boat does have an overhanging awning, it would seem impossible to all to be able to see. So that is my question and if anyone has any pics of your view -if you are not on the side facing MK that would be very helpful. Many thanks

My daughters and I loved it, and they're a bit older so the kiddy stuff tends to annoy them. But this was just awesome. There were lots of snacks at the party beforehand, pretzels, popcorn and sweets, but since we had dinner just before we got there none of us were in the munchy mood, really. They fireworks from the lake are just amazing, and although it rained for most of it, we stayed dry in the boat. Afterward the Peter Pan meet and greet was awesome, he took pictures with both of my girls, who will always be in love with the Pan, even though they claim to be over it. When they see him they're just like they were when they were little.
