Characterpalooza

I have never experienced Characterpalooza. I was wondering if we would be able to go to it when it begins and be on time a 7PM ADR at Epcot with the princesses? Can anyone help with logistics? We will be there this Thursday.

KennythePirate.com is the best source for character info.

Here's his info on Characterpalooza.

When it happens, Characterpalooza starts at 4:50p, and to see all characters offered that day you'd need to stay until 5:50p. This hour includes two sets--the first for the first 25-30 minutes or so, and the second for the next 25-30 minutes or so. After that, the characters repeat.

Your plans are a little tight, though. You're leaving the Animation Building at DHS at 5:50p and getting to Akershus (I assume that's where you mean) in Norway at Epcot by 7:00p. You could either take the boats or walk.

If your feet are up for it, you can definitely walk it in time. Robo has an overhead map with the route highlighted. Remember though that once you're in Epcot at the International Gateway, you still have to walk almost halfway around the lagoon to Norway.

The boat is more restful, but your timing will have to be good. The boat takes about 20-25 minutes to get to Epcot IG from DHS, once moving. Of course you have to figure time waiting for one and boarding it also.

There might be a third option, though I can never remember this one well. I think there's also a bus between DHS and Epcot. If so, it would take you to the front of Epcot, which is no shorter than entering via the IG if you took the boats or walked. Someone else would have to tell you if that's feasible, but I think you'd be subject to a similar wait for the bus as you would for the boat.

So, bottom line, walking is your safest option but may be tiring. Boating might work, but you will have to luck out on timing a bit. Same with a bus, if available.

In your shoes, I'd try to back up my ADR about 30 minutes or so.

It depends on how many characters you actually want to see. If you just want to see the first set, and the lines aren't bad, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, if you see a must have character in the first set and can't get to them in time, you definitely won't make it to the 3rd set. And bugging out before the second set finishes is probably a good idea.

There is a bus. It actually picks up over by the entrance to the path to DHS. Over past where the regular bus stops are, more over by where the DTD hotel buses are. However, in my experience, it takes just as long as walking. If not longer. I've waited when other members in my party didn't feel up to walking over, and a boat just left, but I recall it taking about 30 mins for another bus to show up, and there is no easy direct way to the front bus area at Epcot. So it ends up taking longer that you would expect.

Where do you catch the boat from DHS to Epcot? I didnt' even know you could do that. That would work for us. How often does it go?

Every 15-20 minutes or so. Stay left as you exit the DHS front gates to the boat launch there.

Now I am sad. According the Kenny, characterpalooza only happens if Fantasmic is after 7. They are having it at 6:30 my entire visit.

Actually, I think the first F! needs to be 7:30p or later for Characterpalooza to happen. Either way, sorry it doesn't look good for your visit.

You're correct. However, Fantasmic went back to a daily schedule last October.

Characterpalloza is the best. If they have it while you are there you should not miss it. We have had some of our best character interactions there and it is inside so it almost feels like a break while you are doing it.

You might be able to squeeze some extra character time in if you take a taxi from DHS to the Yacht or Beach Club & go in the International Gateway. You wouldn't have to wait for a boat or bus & it would be faster than walking.

I'm right there with you guys boo-hoo'ing about no Characterpalooza on nights with a 6:30 show. Because we travel in December, we got no Characterpalooza last year and won't get it again this year.

I really wish they'd find a way to do some extra character sets earlier in the day during these months.
