I would have been fascinated by knowing where the ship was too. Not sure that I would want to know how deep the water is though

Wow those houses are so beautiful. That suite is $25K a night! Oh my, is it bathed in gold and made of rainbows? I think even if I had the $ I wouldn't pay $25k a night! Not that I will ever have that issue!

I do hope the rain held off for you all. can't wait to read more!
Glad I was able to give you a few laughs! Because we had gotten turned around on the ship so many times, I was repeating the way back to the lounge over and over again in my head.

The water depth scared the bejeebers out of me. It was sooooo deep!

The suite would have to be covered in gold and rainbows if I were paying $25,000 a night. Guess I'll never know 'cause I'm not thinking that kind of money will be coming my way any time soon.

We now return to our regularly scheduled awesome trip report!
$20,000 or $25,000 for a night? $80,000 or $100,000 for a length of stay? Really? What's the difference? If you are so rich that you can afford to stay there you probably can't even come out of your suite for fear of being recognized. But, then again - why would you ever need to leave?

Hum, I was raised Church of God and John was raised Assembly of God.....wonder if there's a clause about ironing that I didn't know about. I need check that out since Somebody up there may be telling me to stop ironing. Just kidding!

Hunter and his Dad wasted no time, whatsoever, in getting their jabs in at me. (Like I would expect any different. )
I am glad my story brought some chuckles! If I tell the full story, it is much better but I gave the cliff note version! I was raised Southern Baptist so you'd think that would constitute using an iron...right!?

On our cruise we never felt the boat rock until the final night. I have pictures of the waves and they were huge! They would come over the deck which was level 8 or 9! There was some serious rocking going on and a lot of people got sea sick...thankfully my motion sickness pills worked but I still felt queasy!

Wow! Those houses were amazing!!!! I wonder who will get Tom Cruise's house...him or Katie? And the $25,000 suite...holy cow!!!!

We are staying at the Riu! But our family friends who are traveling with us are staying at Comfort Suites!! So thank you for your report, I'm off to read that!

And I cannot imagine spending that much money for one night (even if I had Oprah money ) Just crazy, now I want to see the inside of it!

I edited to add that I LOVED the navigation channel too!! When we flew international they had it on Continental and I was always checking it then and on the cruise!

I usually lurk, but I love reading all of your trip reports!!

I apologize if this has been talked about already, but about the buffet in Cabanas, apparently when the buffet was thought up and created they intended for people to just go up to the station they wanted food from and grab it rather than wait in lines which were probably the "cutters" However, I think we're conditioned to waiting in lines at buffets and so that's what most people do. I know I'm guilty of waiting in the line, I just feel weird going up and getting food if I see someone waiting.

On the Magic and the Wonder the buffets are just straight lines so you do have to wait.

Love the report!

I was a few posts behind, so........

How cool that you saw dolphins, sting rays, & manatee! Um, guess I was looking elsewhere while standing on the rail watching us sail away because I saw none of those guys!

That Panini looks so so good - even at 9:45 am!

We must have had the same restaurant rotation because we had Enchanted Garden the first night as well, late seating. I know I caught a glimpse of y'all the next night at Royal Palace. I really wanted to sit at one of those tables you got, too! Was it fun?

Can't wait to hear more about your excursion!

I would have kicked John right in his backside for not having his ID! After I had calmed down from my brain explosion from his admission that he didn't have it!

Good thing you didn't get lost either way!

Under the Sea! Under the Sea! Darling it’s better down where it’s wetter! Wait a minute...We’re going to get wet?

While looking at the amazing houses and the beautiful Atlantis resort on our left, our tour guide called our attention to the right. There were many many barges loaded with just the trailer portion of 18 wheelers. The guide said that nearly all supplies were taken to the various islands via barge. Even their mail was delivered by barge. He also told us a few other things about the workings of the island and then told us that we were about to approach our next boat.

He pulled alongside the boat and the...the...I’m not sure what you’d call them. I guess deckhands or staff? Not sure ‘cause I’m not savy with nautical language. Anyway, the staff tied the two boats together just as it started to sprinkle rain again. They helped each one of us step from boat number one to boat number two. Boat Number two was to be the “sea portion” of the excursion. As I promised to several readers, including RinkyTinky, I took pictures of the semi-submarine (boat number two). RinkyTinky said that she was claustrophobic and wasn’t sure if she would be able to handle the semi-submarine. The steps down were a little steep and there were others behind me but I managed to snap a picture without stopping:

You can see in the following pictures that the seats fold up and down. They were in the upright position when we boarded. The seats didn’t have any padding on them but they weren’t super uncomfortable. I tried to take as many as I could before everybody got in and you couldn’t see the submarine section of the boat.

I’m going to apologize right now for the quality of these next pictures. I tried playing around with the settings on the camera and none of them produced great pictures.

This was the view from our windows. Look at all the stuff growing on the bottom of the boat. There were teeny tiny little fish that would swim up to the grass and nibble on it (or what was in it):

I took a picture of my boys who look like they are living it up! Seriously? Can you not smile at least a little bit?

Even though John and Hunter looked like they were in a funky mood, they really were excited to get this portion of the excursion started. Okay, now for the crappy quality pictures. Oh and I’m not even going to try and tell you what kind of fish are in the pictures because I don’t remember. I do know that the tour guide (a different gentleman who looked just like the Jamaicans you see with the dreadlocks and the knit cap and talked like them too) would tell us what kind of fish we were seeing, pointed out little sand piles where fish were hiding from their predators, lots and lots of coral, etc. I remember there being grouper, yellow tailed something or other, coral and a quick glimpse at a sea turtle.

Yeah, see what I mean about me not getting any really good pictures. It seemed like every time a “good fish” would come by, I was fiddling around with the settings on the camera. So, I got a lot of pictures of the yellow tailed something or other and the long skinny fish.

The semi-submarine portion of the tour was great! I’d definitely do it again. We went over coral fields, a section the guide said was “the drop off”, caught a glimpse of a sea turtle and saw lots and lots of fish. The guide was very informative and would answer questions that the guests had. Like I said, I’d take the tour again. I don’t remember how long the semi-submarine portion lasted but I know it was at least 30 minutes.

We were told that we could go back upstairs where we could take a seat on deck and wait for boat number one to come back. I snapped these pictures first:

The tour guide was standing at the door and would help us step onto deck. John handed him a tip and we went on to find a spot to stand or sit. We found a short bench that was wet. Not extremely wet but wet enough that we had to wipe the water off. Seemed like it had rained while we were “Under the Sea! Under the Sea!”. There was a man and his son who looked to be about 5 or 6 standing in front of us and the man was letting his kid hang over the side of the boat, climb on the railings, and then walk over to the gate near the motor and walk down one of the steps. The dad never said a word to the kid! I almost had a cow! You idiot! Do you seriously want your kid to fall overboard? Didn’t you just hear the guide tell us that the water we were over was over 100 feet deep and you could see at least 70 feet down?

Look at our Captain/Skipper whatever his proper name is:

Yeah, he wasn’t paying a bit of attention. He was just relaxin’ while he waited on the boat to come get us. Uh, Hellooooooo, look at this guy letting his kid climb all over everything! I was so relieved when the two walked to the back of the boat. I was quickly becoming a nervous wreck.

After about 10 minutes or so, boat number one came back and we had to wait for it’s guests to go below before we transferred from one boat to another. As we boarded boat number one, John started to hand tour guide on boat number one his tip that we forgot to give him when we got off the boat earlier. Tour guide number two stuck out his hand for the tip and John had to tell him that he had already given him a tip. It was kinda awkward because you could tell that the two guys were eyeballing each other. That’s not to say that they were about to fist fight or anything but it did make me wonder if the tip snitching occurred often.

Once everybody had made the boat transfer, we were off again and on our way back to Nassau.

We made it back to the dock and were told that the bus portion of our tour would be led by the guy who was holding up his hands. We also got our first good look at Nassau. Hum.....not exactly what we were expecting.

I enjoyed the update, Lisa.

It's so hard to get a picture of a moving target at any time, but under water I'm sure is much harder.

It's a good thing I'm not taking a cruise. I never knew you had to tip people on excursions????

Sounds like a good start to the day, despite the drizzle.

I'm glad that I eventually gave up trying to take pictures otherwise I would have missed seeing a lot.

We weren't sure if we were supposed to tip on the excursions but brought along extra money just in case we saw anyone else tipping.

It was a good start to the day. The rain apparently came while we were down below.

I thought it was cool too! For people who aren't good at snorkeling or swimming, the semi-submarine tour is fantastic!
