Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

I just noticed that I haven't been over to your PTR in ages, since just before the birth of your beautiful son. I skimmed the pictures you posted.

Congratulations!!!

Between the start of school, flag football, theatre rehearsal for Ben (he is playing Macbeth in a show called Paranormal High School, opens this weekend) and my family, I haven't made it over to the PTR board in months!

I am not one to dwell on sadness.

I am so hopelessly behind on everything I need to be doing, but I don't care!!!

I am going to work on posting an update to my report now and then buckle down on the stuff I really need to do.

Thanks, again, everyone!

Don't worry Dee, you are worth the wait. Take it easy and you will be back in the saddle in no time. Be sure to take a breath and drink a home made Grey goose slushie or the equivalent.

Downtime and "Dinner"

After leaving Animal Kingdom, we returned the resort around 3 PM. We had plans for our group to meet at 5 for dinner so that we could get to Sum of All Thrills at EPCOT before it closed at 7:00. And then possibly head over to HS to watch Fantasmic.

One of the boys in our group had told us in the morning that he couldnt find his wallet. He had it the previous night at Magic Kingdom. One of the other chaperones went with him to speak to concierge/guest services at the front desk, and spent about an hour there dealing with the issue. The boy later found his wallet in a drawer in his room.

I went back to my room to do some packing for the next day. Once that was done, I went to get my coffee for the morning and to check out the Toy Story area of the resort since I hadnt been to that section yet.

The day was definitely grey, but it wasnt raining.

On the way, I passed by the playground.

Toy Story Section:

When we got together at 5 to meet for dinner, the boy who had lost his wallet was not there. I handed out the meal vouchers to everyone else. For the last time!!! I checked the boys room. He had thrown up again - this was the boy who left Hollywood Studios early the day before because he got sick. He was feverish and wanted to stay at the resort that night to rest. I gave his meal voucher to one of the teachers who was staying behind, and I went to join the rest of my group. I held onto the boys park ticket since he was clearly not going anywhere that night.

I think it was around 5:30 when I got to the food court. Everyone was finished with their meals and working on dessert. I didnt want to hold anyone up waiting for me, so I decided that I would wait until we got to EPCOT to find something to eat. So many choices! Sunshine Seasons. Morocco. French Bakery. Japan. Mexico.

About 15 minutes later, everyone was done eating. Two of the chaperones and their sons went back to their rooms to get backpacks and raincoats.

It wasnt raining at the moment and although I had brought along a raincoat for the trip, I did not go back to my room to get it.

Cue the foreshadowing music: Dum, dum dummmmb!

We headed to the bus stop, but were still waiting for the 4 people who had gone back to their rooms. At 6, they were still not there, and a bus to EPCOT pulled up.

One of the dads wanted to get on it. I said that I wanted to wait for the rest of our group to join us, especially since I had all of the park tickets. He wanted to get going and meet them at the park because he said it would be another 20 minutes before another bus to EPCOT came. I told him that was not the way it worked. I stood my ground and we did not get on the bus.

He called one of the missing people to see where they were. Then I heard him say "Well, you have another 20 minutes before another bus comes."

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Our missing members showed up, a bus to EPCOT came and I handed out everyones park tickets. For the last time!!!

Our group was going to separate when we got to the park. You may recall that one of the boys had saved his money to purchase a kimono from Japan, so I went with this boy, his mom and his friend. Everyone else was headed to SoAT. I tried to make plans for meeting place in EPCOT, but nobody really wanted to listen. I hate relying on phones/texts to keep in touch. I like having a Plan A and then a Plan B as a backup.

While we were on the bus, the skies opened up and it started POURING! But fortunately rainstorms in Florida are always very heavy but brief.

Right???

Hi Dee.

I'm so so so far behind on TRs; I just updated mine and then came over to yours and saw your sad news. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear about your mom, but I'm so very glad that she is in a better place and everyone recognizes that and is "glad" for it.

We're never happy to see our loved ones leave us, but we definitely can find comfort in their peace, and I hope you find that comfort and the peace as well.

God bless you and your family.

oh my. At this point I'd be so ready to be done with Dad's that don't listen, kids that keep throwing up, meals that get missed and being the one in charge of all the meal vouchers and park tickets.

I hope, despite the looming deluge, that you were able to slosh your way to some yummy food for yourself!

I know, right!

You might expect that from an elementary trip, or perhaps even a senior class trip (flashback to 1983, but that is another story...), but I'm not used to middle schoolers tossing their cookies so frequently.

And my group had it easy. There was one group of girls that started out with one on crutches and at the end of the trip, 2 were in wheelchairs and 1 had crutches.

Thank goodness there were 2 nurses on the trip.

I'm pretty sure at this point I have never been less sad to be leaving Disney.

Did you notice the excitement in the voice (inside my head) as I wrote "For the last time" when I handed out the meal vouchers and park tickets.

Ah, dinner- let's just say that my amazing attention to detail failed me miserably that night!

I would have thought so before our trip in September!

Love the pictures of the Toy Story section, I've never seen it before -- not in person or in pictures! Thanks for sharing those!

Glad you didn't have to wait another whole 20 minutes for a bus to Epcot. :P

I sure hope you got yourself something to eat in Epcot, what with all those wonderful choices! And also I hope (but do not think) it stopped raining before you got off the bus!

!
I heard that loud and clear!

My good friend spent all of her daughter's high school years chaperoning the school band trip to Disney. I was always amazed that she was so happy doing it - especially since they went from Ontario by bus!

Back to the good stuff.... Loved the pics from the Toy Story area. So much fun to see the props that are larger than life. It must be such fun for little kids to see.

Oh no...this sounds like one of those rains that just won't stop.

To obad about the boy getting sick. How awful.
What the heck were the other kids doing that took so long to get back to the bus stop. You sound like me though, I would've stood my ground too.

I noticed

Your Toy Story pics are great. Love the theming. I can never show my children those pics, or they would be begging me to stay there. Since we are DVC members, that wouldn't work out.
