Crowds at Halloween?

I'm trying to find a date that works for my Disney trip. I've been to Disneyland 50+ times and Orlando once. So I'm not a first-timer and don't have to totally maximize every second there. That said, I'm trying to find a date that will work with my schedule and will not be too hot and too crowded. I was looking at Halloween week. Are the crowds insane on Halloween? How about the rest of that week?

Alternatively, I'm looking at the last week in August. I know the heat will be horrendous, but how are the crowds then? I am not going with kids, so ideally I'd like to go when kids are in school, but I have no clue what the school schedules are (I don't have kids).

Thanks for any advice!!!

We went the week before that and the crowds weren't bad at all. Hopefully, someone who has been there that week can give you better info.

I haven't been there at that time, but I checked easywdw.com, and they're showing crowd levels of 4 most of the week (on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being lowest and 10 being highest if you're not familiar with his site). I wouldn't expect it to be busy though because Halloween isn't a holiday that kids have off from school like at Christmas and Easter.

We also went Halloween week and the crowds were not bad at all! We saw a pretty significant reduction in lines at attractions compared to the summer months which is when we usually go. We are here now and the crowds are pretty bad.

In 2011 we were there from October 24 - November 1 and the crowds weren't bad at all. The parks were a little busier than predicted but still completely tolerable! We actually booked our October 2012 trip around the same dates (October 23 - October 31) because we had such a great experience -- moderate crowds, fantastic weather, and MNSSHP!

Hi, Welcome to the board!

I love late October for a visit, we went in '09 and had a blast with great weather, MNSSHP, and decent crowd levels. Going again this year the 20-28 for DDs birthday.

The crowd predictions look pretty good . Some 7s and only one 9 at Epcot but thats a weekend with the Food and Wine. I was surprised by the heat in09 but it was manageable and we are looking forward to the waterparks this trip.

Have fun!

Crowds really are not that bad Halloween week. We arrive on the Friday before whenever Halloween is and are there for 10-11 days. Stay away from the F&W on the weekend nights though! It is wall to wall people. The day times for F&W are great. You can just walk up to any kiosk and get your selection. All the other parks are fine. Really never wait for any attractions at DHS (except Toy Story Mania-you have to do that one early, early!!!!). AK and MK are fine except for HAllowween night for the MNSSHP. That is a sell out.

I would still make ADRs for any restaurants. Weather is fantastic. No humidity, no afternoon thunderstorms. Low to mid 80s in the day. Night could get a little "cool" but nothing a sweatshirt or light jacket can't handle. As Florida weather goes, this could change at any time!!!! This will be our 16th Halloween there and it is our favorite time of year to go.

Enjoy!

in 2010 we arrived on Halloween and stayed through Nov. 7. Weather was great, crowds were great and we got to see folks all dressed up on their way to the MNSSHP in the lobby of Wilderness Lodge which was much fun. About mid-way through the week(it was Nov. 3rd, I think), the Christmas Tree was up in front of DHS. So we got Fall/Halloween and Christmas decor in the same trip.

We were there this past Halloween (October 27-November 5) and the crowds were great. We did a lot of "walk -on" rides and could not believe how uncrowded it was. We did the Halloween party on Nov. 1 and it was really fun - great parade and the Halloween fireworks are incredible! I think they are only shown during the party. The weather was perfect.
