Buying Tickets in Advance

Trying to figure out if its worth buying tickets in advance to save the $ on the increase. Assuming expiration is not a problem (since we will use what we buy in 1 trip), why wouldnt someone buy in advance if they have the money? You lose out on packages right? Is that a big enough reason? We still arent sure where we are going to stay when we go.

Jan 2012 Disney Dream - Bahamas: DD First Cruise

Jan 2016 Disney Fantasy - Western Caribbean: 2nd DD First Cruise

That is one reason, since to get a package with dining or free dining, you would have to add tickets.

Maybe someone also wouldn't want their money tied up in Disney tickets, even if they were saving a bit of money and would rather wait until closer to their trip.

We have never used packages because to us free dining doesn't make up for rack rate on tickets and rooms; however, I believe if you get a package, you only need one ticket so buying in advance saves on the other tickets and you put the extra ticket away for another trip. I have various tickets from back to 2008 because family circumstances have eft us with stray tickets. Now we only stay off site and we just got 4 more tickets for our trip next June (added to the other tickets from prior years we are ready)

Fort Wilderness Camping - October 1983 (me, DH, DD), June 1993 (me, DH, DD, DS & friends), June 1997 (me, DH, DD, DS), May 2008 (DH and me)
Fort Wilderness Cabins - May 2004 (me, DH, DD, DS, SIL and GS)
Fort Wilderness Camping - June 2009 (me, DH) AND ASMo (SIL, DD, GS, DS)
Windsor Hills (Romancing the Mouse) - June 2011 (me, DH,DD, SIL, GS, DS)
Emerald Island (Puff's Vacation Home-Tropical Retreat) - July 2013 (everyone!)
Windsor Hills - DH and I - November 2014
