Imagine the laughs my nieces and I had at POR mid-January this year when the temps dipped to low 50s 1 day. We say other guests with winter jackets, hats and a couple had their blankets wrapped around them. I did my morning run in shorts and a long sleeved T shirt and was actually quite comfortable!

Hopefully someone will post soon what the Mizners hours and offerings are. Looks like the Beach Pool Bar isn't going to have any evening offerings as it only goes through "lunch", so it will be good to know if there are any late night options for DH when we get back from the parks at night.

That is an awesome plan! We wanted to hard wire ours as well but I think once you get a month or so past the last time you needed to use it you tend to find other things that need the money more...like a trip to Disney! At least we have some sort of back-up in place... no power is no fun!

We are in a colder clime, but still hate the chill. We are among those who are shivering at WDW when it dips below 70.

It has been unseasonably cool here this weekend as well. I hope everyone in the NE is spared the nasty weather from early last winter.

Thank you! And your DD's AKL print sounds great! There was one sand pail print at the GF gift shop last month. It was lovely.

I know what you mean about meaning to do things or buy things and then for whatever reason you forget or don't have time. That's how I feel about the Tonga Toast. It was supposed to be a must do this trip and once again, I didn't get to try it, so next trip!

ps. wishing everyone speedy recoveries
I know, we so often have a plan to pick up a missed souvenir, but get busy and forget. I hate that we missed out on all the GF pillows.

No.. from what i hear they are using the area temporarily as a place to get food to go. I've seen pics and the entire place had been cleared of all furniture.
Thanks for this update. We love stopping in Mizner's for a drink in the evenings as well, what a shame it won't be available during the construction. We didn't even think to ask about the upcoming changes, we had drinks several times and often had the room to ourselves in the early evening, chatting with the CMs.

I did hear from CMs at the Tea Room they will be getting an update soon. Changes to layout and incorporating the "kitchen" area into the room, if the current plans are carried out.

YAY! You must be checked in by now, hopefully in your room. Have a wonderful, magical vacation. Can't wait to see your photos and hear about the most recent updates.

It's quite possible there are more items than are listed - I don't see a children's menu on this link and most venues have one. As for the dinner and late night menus, the bar menu includes the same food items as the "lunch" menu, and lists their hours as "11 a.m. through 11 a.m."! I'm assuming it is a typo, and they mean 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., since the article lists hours for the grill as 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

I already have the BW booked for November, but I'm thinking of switching. My wife is allergic to sesame seeds, so it is important that we have a seedless vacation. Any recommendations?

(Never gets old!!)

Looks like it may take awhile to walk from the Beach / Pool Grill and Mizner's to the boat dock. Will have to walk around all the construction. We've never stayed there. Are all the buildings far apart?

Hi,everyone. We are at the GF right now and it is lovely. We are staying in a RPC TPV room. Everyone is having a fabulous time, but the construction is definitely having its impact. To wit:

1. The courtyard pool is closed. We have heard from CMs that they are not only converting it to zero entry but actually making it shallower. The feature pool is open, but has no view of the beach. This is because there is no beach. Right now, it is a construction roadway and a reinforced sea wall. Several members of the recreation department confirmed that no additional pools will be added to handle additional guests from DVC.

2. The children's Alice in Wonderland water play area is nearly ready. The expectation is that it will open this week, pending approval from the building department.

3. Gasparilla's is closed. We like their food anddon't like the options at the beach bar or Mizner's. Additionally, dining at the beach bar means dining outdoors. Not sure what this means when it rains. The selection at Mizner's transcends limited.

4. Sandy Cove is closed through November. We had to go to Walgreen's for some basic toiletries and aspirin. Some of the items are available in the upstairs gift shop.

5. Monorail service has been fine. No problems at all.

We will post photos when we return home. Now, I am going for a swim.

Nope. The buildings are pretty close together, with the exception of Sago Cay right across the marina, but still close to the main building. I'm not great at this, but I would estimate the time to walk from the Beach Pool to the boat dock at about 3 - 5 minutes, depending on how fast you normally walk.

I think they did a nice job on Mizner's. I really hope my request to be on the marina side of Conch Key is honored - I don't want to be looking at those walls around the pool.

Thanks for the live update. I'm going to pack a few extras that I would normally purchase as needed at Sandy Cove just so I don't have to run out!
If I stick the ibprofen, zantac and claratin in my shoes in the suitcase they won't really take up extra space!
