Lunch on Fantasy - Embarkation Day

I wanted to double-check that the Enchanted Garden is available on Embarkation day for lunch on the Fantasy. Is that correct? I believe it is a buffet. What types of things are on it. I am curious because we have a DS 8, and I want to know that he will eat there before we try it rather than go upstairs. Our check-in time isn't until 12:30 - 1:00, so we won't be in a hurry (hopefully). TIA.

It is open. They have an abbreviated buffet with salad, hot buffet foods (pasta, mashed potatoes, veggies), seafood and carving meats. They will bring you kids food if you ask (mac an cheese at least), but you have to remember to ask. They also have a desert area with hard ice cream and the usual DCL deserts. The Cabanas buffet is more comprehensive, but I like EG. We ate there on our Fantasy cruise, April 21st. It was the only way for us to get to sit in one of the teacup booth tables. Another advantage is that they bring you drinks.

The cast members in the atrium might try to discourage you from going to EG, and try to send you toward Cabanas. They usually say EG is full and you might have to wait. We never have had to wait more than a minute or two. We just say we are ok with a wait and take the stairs behind Minnie (or Donald on the Dream) to EG.

Thank you. You just made my DS happy. First mentioning pasta, then mashed potatoes, and ending with hard ice cream. Throw some meat in there, and he won't care about upstairs. I think I saw where they might have caesar salads too. If that is the case, he might not want to leave. I think we will definitely go with EG for lunch. If I have to wait until 12:30 to check in when I only live about 2-2 1/2 hours away, I can wait a few minutes to eat in EG

Lunch

What time does lunch go to on the first day. Wondering if we have to be concerned about possible missing since our port arrival time is 1:30.

Why have it open if they're just going to discourage guests from eating there? Strange!

Normally, they discourage people from eating at the buffet where beverages are served to the guests and try to point them to the pool deck. I suspect this is because the "inside" restaurant is more popular. Honestly, the only time we didn't get the "suggestion" to go up to the deck was when I was with a friend in a wheelchair--then we were escorted into Parrot Cay.

Yes, Enchanted Garden is open. The mint chip ice cream was some of the best I'd ever eaten. They did not have a kid's buffet like the do on the Magic and Wonder. There is a good selection of food--shrimp, salad, pastas, several meats, veges, mashed potatoes, etc. It was essentially the same as on the Magic from a "main food" standpoint. The desserts are plated (you get a plate with a piece of cake on it rather than taking a slice out of a cake), and the ice cream is served to you.

They also had excellent salmon on our cruise. We boarded about 15 minutes before the opened for lunch and were actually directed there as were friends of ours who boarded about 15 minutes ahead of us. They also have chicken strips and fries from the kitchen if you ask. I can confirm the Caesar sald as well.

Do they have the same food selection in Canannas? It looks like it would be a good place to eat too...or am I wrong?

Actually Cabanas has a few more options to choose from. I prefer Cabanas since it's much less congested than Enchanted Garden.
