We didn't and they wouldn't let us enter the MK unless we had the MVMCP ticket. We left the MK entrance and went back to the resort. We were staying CL at the GF. I told the CM at the desk about the situation and she had the dessert party cost credited back to us. The CM was surprised that we weren't told about the MVMCP when we made the reservations for the dessert party. We for sure weren't made aware of the conflict.

We weren't at all interested in MVMCP, we went to it several years ago, but didn't even think about it last December.
Thanks for the info.

I know this has been answered but I can't find it. If Wishes is at 9 p.m. what time will they start letting people in the dessert party?

Generally they open up about 1 hour before the fireworks start. Sometimes a little earlier by 10-15 minutes.

If wishes starts at 9, the desserts party is at 8. If wishes starts at 10, the desserts party starts at 9 and people usually start lining up 20 to 30 minutes before the desserts party starts.

Just wanted to post my experience at the Dessert party, as it was somewhat unusual.

We were there Sunday, Aug. 18, which was the night of a very big storm in WDW.

This was our 5th time at the party, so we are familiar with how it goes.

First, MSEP was cancelled, due to weather. We were lucky, since we had seen it the previous night, in FPP seating. I felt bad for those who had been waiting in the rain for MSEP that never happened. We saw lots of guests leaving MK in the rain, then the crowds tapered off somewhat, as those who wanted to leave MK had pretty much left.

There was a huge lightening strike/crash of thunder that startled everyone. Seemed to be over Frontierland. The lights flickered but the power at the Tomorrowland Terrace stayed on.

The Celebrate Castle projection show was cancelled.

We saw huge groups of people pour out of Tommowland. Thought this was odd, because it had seemed that most of the crowd had left earlier, and we wondered where these people were coming from.

So, I check the Lines Chat on my phone, and see that "MK has lost power" and guests are stranded all over MK, and on the monorail. I can see power all over the park, though.

I did not find out until later that all Tomorrowland (at least) was without power, and guests had to be evacuated from attractions. And there was flooding all over. We had no idea all of this was going on.

I asked a cm if Wishes might be cancelled. They said they had never known it to be cancelled, but it might be delayed. I did know that if Wishes were cancelled we would not get a refund, because we were "paying" for the desserts, and the service. I knew that going in. Wishes did take place, but it was about 45 minutes late.

Anyway, I felt very lucky to be at the party through all of this. The desserts were continually replenished (some things ran out, but there were plenty of other things). We had power and were dry. The cm's told us what was happening with Wishes as they found out (we had to ask- they did not make announcements at the party- and it was hard to hear the general MK loudspeaker). And we were able to stay there and eat/ drink until Wishes was over- so 45 minutes longer. It would not have surprised me if they had cleaned up and removed the desserts at the normal time, leaving us to just sit at the Terrace and wait for Wishes without the "party", but they didn't. We were able to enjoy the refreshments until Wishes finally happened.

So, IMO, this was a night that the Dessert party was definitely "worth it".

Glad to hear you had a good expierience under such unusual circumstances.
Good to see they didn't cancel Wishes, just postponed it.

Did they ever get power back in Tommorowland??

Thanks for the info.

They did get power back in Tomorrowland.

It was actually pm emh. DD and I stayed after Wishes and we went to Tomorrowland. Everything was back up, and we wouldn't have known what had happened except that we heard people talking about it, so I asked a cm. Lines were very short at that point, and DD and I rode several rides in Tomorrowland. We were surprised that we were never asked for our KTTW card (or to show bands) anywhere in Tomorrowland, even though it was emh. They did ask us for them in the rest of the park, though. I assume they were leaving Tomorrowland "open" for non-resort guests, since it had been down so long.

By the time Wishes was over, it had stopped raining, the temperature was perfect, and the rest of the night was lovely!

If we had not been at the Dessert party, I'm sure we would have trudged out of MK in the rain with the masses, and been stuck somewhere.

I have a cancellation that I am going to put through for 10/30 for 4 people for the Dessert party. Please PM me if you are interested. I did already post this on the October cancellation board also, so someone may grab it there first.

Thanks! I didn't even know that one was there! Guess I have a new thread to stalk for a potential reschedule.
