I agree that it has nothing to do with tipping. Twice we've arrived at a resort to find a towel animal waiting for us, i.e. before we had any chance to leave tips.

RESORT TOWEL ANIMALS:

1) They are prepared by the room maid.
2) All maids are trained in basic animals.
3) Some have been trained to do advanced animals.
4) Tipping or not tipping does not influence maids making animals.
5) Animals cannot be assured by request or order.
6) Whether you get animals is based upon
. . . if the maid has time
. . . if the maid has the energy
. . . if the maid has the initiative
. . . if the maid likes the way you keep the room
. . . if the maid is an employee or temporary staffer
. . . if the maid is working during the correct phase of the moon
7) Expect nothing, and be pleased if they appear.
Number 2 is not true. My DD was a mousekeeper for a while at CR and she did not know how to make them. She said they had classes but it was not mandatory.

Also, try to remember that the maids work hard and are not necessarily doing the same rooms everyday. So, if you leave a big tip at the end of your stay it may all go to a person who just did your room for the first time that last day and not the one (or two) who did it throughout your week!!!!

It is fun to get towel animals, but they are not expected, just a sweet surprise.

I enjoy making towel animals for the cleaning staff. My best is the snake or the log.

I recall coming back to our cabin on a cruise and screaming in fright because of the hanging monkey on a hanger. Too many drinks maybe?

So, if you are planing on tipping housekeeping anyway you might try and leave a little each day...can't guarantee it will work, but it can't hurt! Good luck!

I'm not being funny but I would NEVER tip at the end of the week-I don't suppose Mousekeeping all do 7 day weeks any more than any of us would. I always think supposing my mousekeeper has a day off the day I leave, and the large tip she thoroughly deserves goes to Billy-scruffbag, who never does more than he has to? I know I would be hacked off at that

When we stayed last November at POFQ we got them everyday. It was myself, DH, DD13 and DD15. Our Mousekeeper was so nice, she even made sure to tell me on the last day to make sure we took the animals she had made for us. I hope this was allowed, I assumed it was because she was the one that told us to do it. Oh and we did tip daily probably didn't make a difference but that is how we do it because I read once that you don't always get the same housekeeper so you should do it daily. Have a great trip.

The only time we ever recieved a towel animal (that wasn't in the room at check-in) was last week at ASMo. Ironically, we'd always stayed Deluxe before and this was our first Value trip. Also, DD is now a teen and all the years when she was younger, we never got one. So I really think it's a random thing. We noticed our neighbors all had different ones in their windows too (like ours was) that day so maybe it was just a certain mousekeeper who was creative that day.

I LOVE that monkey on a hanger! We've gotten that one twice and it's so cute!

We didn't get any towel animals on our last trip (we were 22 and 24 at the time, but as previous posters said, they didn't think age made a difference). Hoping to get some on our upcoming trip!

Dh and I got several (no kids) during our stay. I agree about leaving one tip at the end of the week. It could be the first time that mousekeeper did your room and the poor mousekeeper that did it all week gets nothing. The mousekeeping envelopes are so cute and very easy to print off the computer before you go, we use them daily ,every trip.

There was a towel/washcloth Mickey head on each of the beds when we checked in, we got those everyday and the stuffed animals we bought were set up along the window sill or on the beds but on DD16's birthday we came back to the room to see a cake and some kinda little dude. We also tipped daily using decorated envelopes.

Where do you go to print off the envelopes. I would like to take them with me on our next trip too, please! Thank you!

If you google "Mousekeeping envelopes" there are several different sites with cute Disney graphics for mousekeeping envelopes. Each site I found had multiple options, too, so you can choose what appeals to you (or theme it to your resort). Some places let you print on a normal envelope, others print out a sheet that you can fold up to make an envelope. I used themouseforless.com for mine, but like I said, there are other places you can find the graphics, and they are free.
