Can I downgrade after final payment due date?

Ds11 & I are sailing a 2 nt weekend escape from NYC. We just want to be on the ship and don't care where. With only 2 of us we don't need split bath etc; it's only 2 nts. We just want to be on the Magic again.

We're booked and PIF for a Cat 10B but just saw a cat 11C become available. I put it on hold and would love to switch. Would I get a refund for the difference or are we stuck with what we chose?

It's over $150 savings!

Sorry to say I believe once your reach PIF date your room is yours to keep. Of course they will always take your upgrade money. Your are sure to have a great time. Don't look back and enjoy

Ah she didn't want to upgrade.

It is true, once you have reached your PIF date you would face huge cancellation fees. Was worth asking about though.

I think Laundress was just pointing out that there comes a point at which they will not change a reservation if it means the customer will be paying less. But if it means the customer will be paying more, they'll be perfectly happy to accommodate at any time.

(Basically just an amusing side comment I think. Kind of like 'Of course my boss won't let me take off Friday, but he seems to have no objection to me coming in on Saturday!' )

Yes, Disney will allow you to change your category on your current reservation to a lower category even if you are paid in full. They will just credit the amount to your card or you can ask if they will add it to your onboard credit.

They may have problem making the change since you held the category.

Just give them a call!

Thanks! I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Worst they can say is no.

Yay!

I just got off the phone with DCL. They said no problem to up/downgrade after PIF date, as long as we don't cancel. She had to cancel the 11C cabin that was on 1 day hold but it instantly freed it up so she could capture it again while modifying my existing reservation.
$156 refunded back to my cc!

Also I requested the Disney Visa OBC of $50 which is in addition to the $25 for booking online. Tips are covered with some left over!

Thanks everyone!
