I don't know about sensitivity, but I don't see how anybody can sleep with a motor throbbing beneath them in the bed! This is, as I have stated before, a different sensation from the rocking that occurs the first night at sea due to the jet stream's motion on the ship. From what others have said, that might be because the ship is moving at a faster pace on that night than the others.
I felt that motion on the first night of our first cruise in January and even tho it was what I'd call slight, I didn't like it.

It all has to do with the speed of the ship ! On ALL my other cruises most ships go faster at night ! Wave heights along with the NORTH ATLANTIC DRIFT also contribute to this!
I'm NOT worried as I have gone through two Nor Easters on cruise ships. One had over 30 foot waves , LOL LOL !

We've done 6 DCL cruises - 5 on the Magic and 1 on the Wonder. We have always booked aft cabins on decks 5 or 6. We've had no issues with vibrations at all.

OP here....lucky you, to be able to be in a roomy aft cabin and not be bothered by what we were! Especially being on a lower deck (our cabin was on deck 9), I'd think the vibrations would be much worse.

Vibrations

Our family has been on over 10 cruises on the Wonder and Magic. We usually book aft cabins as we like the location, normally deck 5. Did the 11 night Med in 2010 on 5 aft--never have we experienced any vibration issues. Got off the Fantasy western 2 weeks ago in cabins 7172 & 7174--the first night in bed, I turned to my wife and said "do you feel that vibration?". It was definitely noticeable, all night, especially the first few nights. Don't know if we got used to it or it somewhat subsided, but was not as noticeable at the end of the cruise. We decided we would not do aft the next time we sailed the Fantasy. Still a great cruise and we loved the ship but the vibration was something we had not experienced before

Great, we're booked for 7170 in November. Going to see if I can change it.

I did not notice anything on the Magic, but I just came back from the Fantasy May 19, and the vibration was insane! We had room 9162, and it was VERY strongly felt. We won't be booking aft on the Fantasy anymore.

We were on the Dream back in May 2011, and were in 7192, just a few feet from being dead center aft. While there was some vibrations felt, it was not enough to affect us. It was really noticeable while docking, but we were usually already awake by that point.

Since it was our first cruise, I can't say if it were just not that bad, or if we were just to excited to care, or maybe just too tired to care (spent a week in Disney World before the cruise).

For those of you who have not gone yet, I would say wait to see for yourself. Everyone has different sensitivities to that sort of thing, and it would really be a shame for you to miss out on that cool room, just because someone said you "might" not like it. I don't know 100%, but I'm sure guest services could accommodate you if it turns out to be too bothersome.

We sailed in 9176 and 9174 on the Dream in February and never noticed any vibration other than coming into port.

We were more concerned with the amount of soot on the verandahs and the noise at night (outside) from the private staff parties on the upper most deck.:rolleyes

I find this all very interesting and there has to be a reason why some are feeling it all day/all night vs. just pulling into ports.......

I personally am not deterred. We leave on the Fantasy June 16th and booked non-connecting 9674 (because 8188 was already taken!) and on the 2 cruises after that (both on the Fantasy) we booked 8188.......will be interesting to compare......

yes please report back

i'm inclined to take the chance too - i thought about changing, but given the fact that those who like, LOVE it and the fact that we are not that picky, I am thinking it's going to be GREAT!! and if it isn't, then I'm sure there will be a solution. I can't wait. we leave in July and are dead center aft - looking forward to the views. Please report back from your experiences, just for kicks. Curious to see the reviews on these issues

On our recent 3 night Dream cruise, the first night there was a sizable amount of vibration. Much more than I anticipated. It was only the first night (the night we were traveling around 18+ knots). The vibration, I believe is definitely speed related and feels like prop or engine vibration. No vibration the second or third nights (though our speed was less both nights).

I found the vibration soothing and would book another aft room in a heartbeat. In fact, I have. So there is a vibration sometimes (always while docking, but that is a different thing -- the thrusters -- and that can be felt throughout the ship, btw). It is more than I thought it would be, but also not bothersome to me, to the contrary, I thought it was pleasant. And the huge balcony more than makes up for any vibration issues, though, as I said, to me it wasn't actually an issue.

Yes, having so much space was fabulous, but believe me, we couldn't pack up fast enough Friday morning after being assigned a new stateroom by Guest Services. We got an upgrade to a 4C (to apologize from what we went thru, they said) and they were very pleasant about the whole thing. No one made us feel guilty or anything like that.
To repeat...this movement I felt ALL night long had to have been the engine, even tho we were on Deck 9 and it seems impossible that we would have felt that so much.
On the three night cruises, the ship sails near her top speed to make it to Nassau by morning. The waters the ship sails in that first night is also pretty rough as the ship crosses the jet stream. The ship travels pretty fast on its way back to PC from Castaway Cay on the third night too, but doesn't have the roughness of the first night.

We love aft cabins. We were on deck five aft on the Dream and felt absolutely nothing. On the Magic we were on deck 8 aft stateroom and only felt the vibration from the rear thrusters while docking.

we just got back off 3 night Dream and I agree! we had 9668 & while I did enjoy it was quiet back there as far as hallways,,, the nights were bumpy! I didn't mind the noise of engines, really only noticed that the morning we did Castaway but the motion,, ugh, and no I am not prone to sea sickness, no other part of the boat bothered me

We loved 10166 on the Dream last Nov and we were skirting a hurricane with winds up to 85 mph and we're booked into 9674 on the Fantasy for Nov 2013. Keep us posted on your June cruise.
