Here we go!
Tonight we ate at Blue Zoo, and let me tell you, it was a fabulous experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt like royalty. Our server, Anthony, was terrific. He was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. I knew right away that we were in good hands. I started with a really yummy blueberry infused vodka drink that was to die for. The bread basket contained 3 items, and I am a little ashamed to admit that I not only tried all 3, but asked for more of my favorite. It was a mildly cheesy crisp that was addictive.

For starters hubbs chose the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare with Miso caviar, cucumber, scallion cream, nitro siracha aioli. I got the Teppan Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops with braised beef short rib, silky cauliflower puree.... Ed thoroughly enjoyed the tuna, saying that it was the best he has ever had. When it was served, the miso had been frozen with nitrogen, and when it was served the miso was spooned over the top, it created a lovely cloud that made the dish even more special. As it melted into the tuna the flavors blended nicely. My scallops were perfectly cooked and when eaten with the melt-in-my-mouth short rib it was a taste sensation! It was so darn god that I nearly licked the plate.

On to the main course.....
Ed ordered the two-pound Maine "Cantonese Lobster", which was fried and tossed in sticky soy glaze and serves with rice. I had this last year and loved it so much that he decided to go for it this time. I ordered a special, which was sea bass in the sticky soy glaze, and was served with a seasoned rice. I love sea bass, but tonight it just wasn't to my liking. Hubbs tried it, declared it delicious, and offered to trade dinners with me. I took him up on that offer and we were both supremely happy with our meals.

Dessert....
I was really too full for dessert, but I didn't want to disappoint my Dis friends, so I took one for the team and ordered the chocolate trio... yowza, it was outstanding! There was a creme brûlée, a rich chocolate ice cream, and another chocolate moose and cookie thingie. All were delicious and worked together to make a stunning ending for a great meal.
Hubbs had a vanilla dessert. It had delicious vanilla cream sandwiched between thin, flakey sheets of pastry. On the side was a vanilla rum ice cream with an "amazing, ridiculous, best I've ever had" caramel sauce.

Now, if someone could please tell me how to post pictures, I would love to SHOW you this wonderful meal.

Oh, I can't wait to see this thing! I just read this review and said to DH "I wanna go to bluezoo!" He said "Is that near Disney World?" He seems to be opposed to anything in the Swan/Dolphin!

To post photos, you have to save them somewhere on the internet. I use photobucket, but I think the DIS has a place where you can upload photos. Once you have uploaded your photos, copy and paste the address that starts and ends with [IMG] into your text field. When you save, it appears as the photo!

Great start to your reviews!

appies

First off, meet Frank. Is he a food snob? On the contrary, he will eat anything that doesn't move, and a few things that do!

This is the hubby's tuna tartar appetizer.... see the "smoke coming from the plate??

...and these are my delicious scallops.

Frank has a bit of a drinking problem. 'nuff said? His brother, Beans, stayed back in the room. Last time we took him to dinner (Victoria & Alberts) he was sassy to the server. He is being punished.

Oh my, fried lobster? I MUST have this. This restaurant does not take the Disney dining plan, correct?

Artists Point

We dined here our first night, and my camera hadn't been unpacked yet, so no pictures. Sorry........
Hubbs has been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so we decided to give it a go this time. I was looking forward to a signature dining experience, and ended up quite disappointed.

First, the high points...
Both Ed and I enjoyed some VERY good appetizers. He had the beet salad, which really surprised me, as I have never seen him within 10 feet of a beet previously. I stole a taste, and I liked it as much as he did. My appetizer was a hunk of out-of-this-world bacon topped with a fried quail egg. When eaten together, the taste was amazing. The bacon was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the little baby egg was as tasty as it was cute.

For our main dishes, Ed chose the Kurobuta Pork with fritto vinegar vegetables, mustard greens and stone ground mustard glaze. The pork was very tasty. I chose the slow-roasted buffalo strip steak with a side of mac-and-cheese, and blackberry Pinot Noir reduction. I enjoyed the buffalo, as it was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It also came with sweet onion relish....

which brings us to the not-so-good.....
the onion relish was "seasoned" with peppercorns. It was so overpowering that I couldn't eat it. The flavor stayed with me for several hours; it was really unpleasant.
The mac-and-cheese was dismal. I believe that somebody lost the salt shaker, as this didn't seem to be seasoned at all. The cheese flavor was lacking as well.
So.... some of the food was very good, some not so good. Our real problem was the service and general atmosphere of the restaurant. Our server was indifferent and often among the missing. The room was a little shabby, with lights out, food left on the floor through our entire meal, and overall did not live up to our expectations. Oh yeah, and we were "blessed" with a number of children with very loose parental supervision, which also made it a less than relaxing experience.
To end on a high note, we both thoroughly enjoyed the berry cobbler for dessert!
