Many people that stay on Disney property still rent cars. I do, every time. With the amount of ADR's we have, and having young children in a stroller, I don't want to count on Disney transportation. I don't want to wait for buses at night with a fussy baby, or pay for a cab to go to any of those random out of the way places. There are LOTS of reasons..

Got my National Emeral Isle rental down another $14 very early Sunday morning. I'm now at $305.57 for Nov 14-23. Hoping to add a $25 or $35 off coupon. But haven't found one that goes through Nov yet.
Alamo is still out of sight. More than double that amount for a midsize. Even the compact is more expensive.

I'm new to autoslash so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but, why are they now only showing rates for 2 companies? Just last week there were more, I could of sworn! I have them watching my dollar rental. Is that no longer happening?

I also noticed this, but I am new to autoslash too so I dont know much about it either!

I did, however, use the last confirmation number that autoslash gave me and went to the Dollar website and pulled up my reservation. The reservation is still valid through Dollar.

My reservation is $312 for a 9 day van rental. I just looked up the current rate....$809! Holy smokes thats almost triple!!

Not sure if you saw my post from awhile back on page #9 Hope this helps:

Autoslash used to be a great way to grab a deal for a car rental (Saved my parents over $350 on a rental in Hawaii!). However, at some point last year or earlier this year, a lot of the companies filed some kind of suit or something (I obviously know nothing about it...) but long story short, they only can book the original reservations for a limited number of companies (lesser known ones, for the most part). You can, however, put your confirmation number in from another site and they will track it. If you google it, I'm sure you can find out much more accurate information.

EDIT: From a Newspaper online ---
Quote:
This site, which continually checks for lower rates and coupons until your trip date, can be used in one of two ways: You can track the price of a rental booked elsewhere, or you can book directly through Autoslash, which currently works with Payless, Sixt, Fox and E-Z Rent-A-Car, and the site will apply any discounts it finds.

The drawback with the second option is limited inventory. Major companies don't like the idea that Autoslash capitalizes on the fact that consumers can usually change or cancel car reservations at any time without penalty. Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, which includes Hertz and Advantage, recently pulled its inventory from the site, as my colleague Ron Lieber recently reported. Enterprise, which owns National and Alamo, won't let AutoSlash list its cars either."
That said, I have watched my mid-size SUV go from $403 to $261!

Hi! While some codes and coupons that you'll find in this forum might help, you'll probably find the best deal for an October rate in the October 2012 thread. Here is the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2901191

The best practice is just to take time to read through the recent pages and see what companies other people have used. Just use the same coupon/codes/discounts that they use, and you'll find a great deal for yourself too! We're all searching for the best deal, and when we find one, we post it to share with others in hopes that it helps them out too.

Alamo rates went down again. Without discount, the price before taxes has gone down about $80 for me. Still too high for me with over $100 in charges for my 3 extra days after the weekly rate. But might help someone else out!

Alamo are one of the highest for my dates 11/23-11/30, just checked and still $430 for a Compact. I'm thinking my reservation at $233 with Dollar might be the lowest I can get

Just checked Alamo and the rates are $500.00 + still. Looks like I'm going to be renting with Dollar. So far no one has beat the $249.00 with taxes for a minivan I got locked in. 11/24 - 11/29 week.

Alamo has the highest rates for our trip as well. Over 450.00 for a week (compant). We have Dollar for 156 total so that is who we will use. Honestly, I'm tired of checking

When I saw on here the good dollar code a few pages back I was able to get a car 10 day rental around the holiday $261 with all taxes SUV. Today I checked to see if I could add a coupon , makes you start over and prices jumps to $400 without taxes. The best I had prior was one day less for $400 for the entire trip. I could get a rental for $269 using budget picking up at the hotel by downtown Disney for one day less. I was going to use that reservation until I got the new dollar one.
