Cheapest across the street motel that isn't a dive?

We are looking at a return trip this november/december and because we JUST went in March, it's going to be a budget trip LOL! My sister and her hubby will be joining us as well, and they are super broke, so I'm socking extra cash away to help them out.

We have 3 kids. Desert Inn and Suites was PERFECT but prices have doubled since we stayed there.

Try Ramada Maingate, Tropicana, and Fairfield, or Anaheim Inn - those would be my picks. Others would be Stovalls, or Pavilions, though a bit more of a walk. BW Raffles is also decent, though a bit of a walk.

We are staying at Del Sol right beside Desert inn, I have seen good reviews (and as always some bad) but over all clean. We got a 2 queen with set of bunk beds for 644 for the week, I see prices have gone up, but still way cheaper then others.

If you can get a retro rate for Hojo's, it can be as low as $59/night and I would say it's a pretty close, painless walk. Also, Red Lion is great, around $79/night with breakfast and parking, just a little farther to walk if they have little ones. For RL, I have heard that it's easy to cut through the disney parking lot and take the tram, doesn't save time, just walking.

Only one I consider a dive (worse than Desert Inn) would be Del Sol. My favorites include Fairfield, Hojo's, Carousel, and Candy Cane.

How many adults and children in your group? This might help people to figure if a suite or two rooms would be more cost-effective. Four adults and three kids? Two rooms, right?

To answer the OP's question.

The Ramada Maingate, Del Sol, Anaheim Plaza in that order tend to be on the cheap end for what is across the street.

The Desert Inn rarely has very low rates. The Hojo rarely has the entertainment rates. The Castle Inn is getting better reviews, but previously "dive" would of been the correct description. Its rate fall in with the three above.

Just off Harbor in the long walk category, the Quality Inn on Manchester and the Super 8 on Katella are decent options.

Also consider in the cost if parking is included or not, and if breakfast is included or not.

Have you ever thought of bidding on priceline? I realize these may not be directly accross the street, but you may be able to get a great rate.

If you use priceline to bid on something across the street, it's very hard to get across the street. You are more likely to be a shuttle or even car ride away.

we'll be taking DLE so we HAVE to be within walking distance, and the closer the better since we have a 2 year old who will need a nap.

4 adults, 3 kids.

The Hojo Ent rate is awesome but hard to come by these days.

Of the ones between Best Western Park Place Inn, up to the Hojo, I usually have the best luck at the Tropicana. Its second from the cross walk, so super close, has a free breakfast (that is bare bones but its something), has a decent pool and we really liked it.

For our July dates, the rate was $129 a night. I cancelled that and we are at the Best Western Pavillions for $98 a night. But I wouldn't call that close at all. We are only doing one night before switching to the DLH so for us it didn't matter.

You might check on Expedia, I have seen super cheap rates for the Sheraton, its not really walkable, but it has its own, dedicated, free shuttle. Those rates go up as your dates get closer, but when I first started checking, they were very reasonable on Expedia.

The Candy Cane Inn is another one that has its own shuttle that is free and it has a very nice continental breakfast.

My husband and I stayed at the Motel6 this past weekend. Loved it so much we have booked it again for Memorial Day weekend. Weekday rates were $59 a night with two queens and a refrigerator. The shuttle stopped right at the motel. Not many people recommend the Motel6 but it worked out really really well for us :D

I almost always book the Parkvue, but the last time I stayed there was 2009, so prices may have gone up since then.
