I'm so sorry to hear about your injury! I do feel your pain - I tore my ACL last year and had the reconstruction done in May last year. Luckily I didn't have a big trip planned like you do. Sending all the best thoughts in the world to you for a speedy recovery. :-)

It's summer here, the temp is supposed to be in the 30s here today. It supposed to be raining or stormy tomorrow, but today it's lovely

areweindisneyyet - Fingers crossed you have a speedy recovery, but remember if something still hurts, or doesn't feel right, let your Dr. know! My mum broke her wrist in the December before my March wedding at WDW. It should have all healed up in that time, but she was so worried about it not being good that when he wrist was still hurting at the check ups she lied and said it was ok. Turns out that the person who first put the cast on did a crappy job, which stopped her wrist from healing. If she'd said something earlier they could have fixed it, and it would have all been fine. She didn't say anything though, and now it's healed completely wrong, and arthritis has set into it.

So after that speel. what I'm trying to say is don't rush it. It sucks that you might have to postpone the trip, but that's better then having an injured knee for the rest of your life.

Ms. Shuttergirl - What are you talking about? Avatars are important! How else would we recognise people?? I didn't recognise you for a while after you changed it, but I understand about wanting a unique one.

My cousin had plaster on his arm when he was little and the little saw thing they use to cut it off was faulty and tore his arm apart. He was crying and screaming as they were doing it and the doctors told my aunty he was just being silly as it was safe to use. It was only when they removed the cast they saw all of the blood and torn skin! And DH broke his shoulder a couple of years ago and by the time we managed to get an appointment with the specialist then an MRI and all the other stuff needed it had already started to heal and the specialist sent him away. And we have private cover. And he went to the hospital and they sent him away with pain killers as his shoulder "wasn't broken enough" for them! That is the only downside to living out of a big city - not enough specialists around when you need them.

Areweindisneyyet- hope that the knee improves so that you can go. It is so disappointing when you have planned and looked forward to something so much and I find when things go wrong hoping makes it worse sometimes-once I make a decision and put the disappointment behind me it gets easier and I can plan forward. What is most important is that it heals properly though- you don't want to be needing emergency surgery in Italy-that could be scary

Ms Shuttergirl-took me a bit to recognise it was you too-but used to your new avatar now. I think its a clever one for you and now when I am on the Paris pages I don't keep seeing Ariel and thinking its you!

Wamum4-haven't been on the boards for a week-how are you doing? I gather you are home safely-are you now well again? and did your illnesses end up spoiling those last few days? I will have to double back and read up.

Thanks for thinking of us unfortunately we are both still unwell still coughing its actually quite horrible had an xray and chest is clear and i had an ultrasound on my leg and have a small tear in my calf muscle and fluid around my knee which i imagine is from my fall at AOA because it is in a different spot to the original injury. A few of my friends seem to think we sound like we have whooping cough which is a worry because our cough has certainly changed but the antibiotics they gave us in New York are the same ones for that.
For me it was certainly a damper on the trip the kids got a lot more time on their own at WDW and DL but they are still talking about how much fun they had so it must be just me who feels like they missed out

Oh no Battymum. That is sucky news. I bet she's devastated. I failed my licence the first time, I really just wasn't ready but in a few weeks I tried again and got it. It's a distant memory now but I remember the "sting". Hope she is ok.

Yeah, this was the second time! But she just gets herself so worked up - she reckons she is not going again, but she will calm down and try again I hope.

It just seems like such a massive thing when you are that age. My husband did not get his licence until I was pregnant with our first child . It was strange actually. Both he and his sister didn't get their licences until later in life. I wonder what their parents did to them

Oh gosh thats not good i have to book DS another test then he has to do his log book over 6 months i cant wait for him to have it all done then it will be time to start with the next one, Has she already done the logbook? One of our friends whose child failed twice ended up driving them quite a few hours to a nice little country NSW town and guess what they passed

Yeah 120 hours done-and we didn't fudge any of it. I told her that's ok plenty of people don't have a licence, but she is gonna have to catch the bus cause I am not always going to be there to drive her around.

Maybe try the small country town test then i think part of it is how nervous they are when they are having the test.

Plenty of my friends did not pass at our local testing center (said to have one of the highest fail rates in Victoria...) and went to one 30minutes away down the peninsula which is much more relaxed and passed there. Says a lot about the consistency of the centers and testers but IMO the real driving test comes once you've got your licence and are on the roads solo!
