To lurkyloo and all other cake helper-- please unite and help me
We are going May 26th-June 2nd. My son graduates on May 25th and will only be with us for part of the trip. He is picking a place to eat--has not told us yet--I would like to have some sort of cake. I did not particularly like the congrats class cake--to formal for us. He wants to be an architect and loves rock-n-rollercoaster. He loves all things drawing and music.

IF you could design any cake to have made--what would you do? Not sure on the budget at the moment.

Thanks

I guess it depends on his taste. I like a more subtle incorporation of a theme into cake design rather than a literal "this is a cake with a picture of Rock'n Roller Coaster, musical notes, a drafting table and a pencil on top" kind of theme, if that makes sense. So I guess I'd suggest picking one of these ideas and running with that. For example, asking for a piano key design encircling the sides of the cake or doing one with the giant guitar from Rock'n Roller Coaster in fondant (pricey) or screen-printed on white chocolate (cheap) on top. Something like that...

From what I was told the "small" $100+ castle can go on a cake as small as a 6", since this is often the size of the top tier on a multi tier wedding cake. Still, it's a lot of $ for some molded white chocolate. I was actually considering dropping $165 for the sandcastle version of this topper until a few moments of clarity pushed me to change plans.

I have ordered a mini cake as a surprise for my DH. We will be there next week to celebrate our 16th anniversary and we are staying at Pop Century so I wasn't sure how easy this would be. I called the cake hotline and followed all of the prompts. I was connected to Janet at Pop Century. She was amazing to work with! I started to tell her what I wanted and that I had a picture of what I wanted replicated in a mini wedding cake. She instantly told me just to email her the picture and she would send it to the pastry chef to verify they could do it. In the email I explained everything I wanted, including flavors, and about three hours later Janet called back to say they could do everything I asked for! They are even delivering it to our room while we are out at the parks. I know some people wondered if they would do this at the value resorts.....so I guess the answer would be yes!

I hope it turns out the way I hope. I will try to post pictures once we get back.

Ok- I read this the other night and have been thinking 'what would I like to do." Hey- it keeps me from having to sculpt gumpaste Dora the Explorer OK...architect immediately makes me think blueprint. Now maybe it's a bit too literal, but what if the cake were covered in blue fondant and it were decorated to look like a blue print for RnR, but what would make it pop...if some of the rollercoaster aspects detailed in that blue print were to be done in 3D form in gumpaste/fondant and sort of spring up from the ideas portrayed in the blueprint on the cake.

I really like this idea! Thank you. I will run with it once he decides where he wants to eat.

I ordered this one from the Grand Floridian. It cost $35 plus tax.

You can order the white chocolate figures at any restaurant serviced by one of the Deluxe resort bakeries. To see options by location, check out Post #2 of this thread.

the answer to this is 100% no. they were even weird about donald being too close to it at chef mickeys. they will have the character at the table if it is convenient, and they are on that side of hte restaurant (mickey wasnt convenient so we had donald... whatever. ds was ecstatic!) so if you are hoping to have a specific character you might need to talk it out and plan with the restaurant.

There should be a list on pg 1 of all the characters that are available. I know for certain that Belle is one of the white chocolate figure options.
