This depends as they need at least a few days notice, up to two weeks if it's a more elaborate cake

I sent an email to the Contemporary about a mini cake 2 days ago but haven't heard back? Should I call them again to follow-up?

I think they are considered minicakes, so slightly more cake than you'd get in a Sprinkles-sized cupcake. But not much... It's the detail that drives the price up.

If all you want is a 6-inch chocolate/chocolate or vanilla/vanilla "podium cake," then yes. But if you want a custom cake, it's what Disney_Princess83 said.

What's weird is, when I spoke with Epcot, they said they'd do mini cakes, so I don't know why the prejudice against 6-inch and 8-inch cakes. If it were me, I'd keep bugging them and try to get them to relent, and if that failed, I'd just bite the bullet and pay for a stoopid 10-inch cake that we couldn't possibly finish.
I just didn't want to have go get such a large cake but that's the route we may have to take. Thanks for your help!

I heard back the next morning, from Brian when I emailed him. However, if you know what you want I would just call. I left a message, the answering machine had said I would hear back from someone within 24 hours.... and I did.

Does anyone know if you can still get those pink treasure chest cakes? At Epcot at Akershus? Do you have to preorder or order at the podium? And the cost? I'm looking for something fun for my daughters third birthday but we are just a party of 5 so I thought that would be perfect. I've only seen a couple pics and not much information about them.

Unfortunately, those were only available as part of the What Will You Celebrate campaign and have been discontinued.

Ok, I paid that much for the rapunzel braid mini cake, I thought they were cupcake size, I can handle that. Thank Lurkyloo

we're going to be celebrating my DD's Birthday in Disney next month and I am considering ordering her a cake. Can't have a 6 year old's Birthday without cake, right?! On her Birthday we have CRT breakfast planned and dinner at Trail's End. I'm leaning toward having a mini wedding cake type at the end of our breakfast meal because it's "fancier" according to my DD. Our reservation is at 9:10am, is it possible to have a cake for an early ADR?

Secondly, can the mini cakes be customized at all or does it have to be the white buttercream with the colored tiny mickey heads all over it? I was thinking of still having it buttercream but maybe pink with black mickey heads all over it? Not sure what all is possible. I'm leaning toward the mini cakes because we only have a family of 3 and do not want to figure out what to do with a ton of extra cake after our meal.

Yes, you can get a cake for a breakfast ADR! We did it last year at Crystal Palace. We also chose the mini cake, and it was pink and white with Minnie ears on top.

awesome, thank you! How much was it and how did you go about ordering it? Also what flavor was the cake and any filling?

oh and I see a candle on top, did you bring that yourself or do they supply it? Do they also light it for you? Thanks for your help!!

It was vanilla, with vanilla buttercream frosting, no special filling, just the vanilla frosting between the layers. I didn't request a special filling, so I'm not sure what is available. I ordered it about ten days before our trip, using the number on the first page of this thread. I was quoted $35 and that's what the final cost was. They added it to my bill at Crystal Palace. I wasn't crazy over feeling obligated to tip 18% of the cake cost, but oh well, I did anyway.

They supplied the candle and lit it for us. I didn't even think to bring a candle.

The servers made a fuss over the cake. DD enjoyed the extra attention. Even Tigger came over to see what was going on.

thank you so much jcemom, you've been so helpful.

DD saw the Cinderella slipper dessert at CRT and liked that too so that's an option and then maybe get a cheap podium cake at Trail's End that evening. anyone know if Trail's End does the "podium" cakes?

I am going to have a hard time deciding what to actually get, there's so many choices!!!

Creative help needed!

So I'm headed back to WDW in October for the ToT 10 Miler. My friend is doing it with me, and another friend is joining us for the 5k in the morning. I'd love to get a custom cake with a running theme, but I've googled and googled, and there's nothing RunDisney, ToT 10 miler, disney running, etc. related to bring to Chef Brian or one of the other bakeries. Any ideas? ToT is Villians related, but I'd like to encorporate the running into it. And for only 3 of us, I'm guessing 6 inches is plenty.

TIA!
