lurkyloo, one more question. I want that Happy Birthday mickey medallion on the cake. Is that on the podium cake or the cake I order ahead of time?

It's pictured on the sample cake in the doc the Magic Kingdom sends out and has been used for several years, but I think if you really really wanted to be sure, you might want to place your order ahead of time and have them note that you want it on the cake.

I had a birthday at Disney World in November and got two custom cakes. I'm trying to upload the pictures from my computer to this post but it isn't working. How do you upload photos to here?

You need to host your photos with a free service like Photobucket or on the DISboards' own community gallery. Once you've uploaded the photos there, you will be able to grab the [IMG] code for each of them and paste it into a post here.

The first cake was 10 inches and was delivered to Cinderella's castle for breakfast.

Those are great cakes—thanks for sharing! If you feel comfortable divulging how much they cost, it will be helpful to other DISers who might want to get something similar.

I'm not exactly sure of the prices because I wasn't the one who paid for them. In my emails with the bakery to design them they gave me estimates of $155 for the Belle and $100 for the Mad Hatter.

While looking at the estimate emails I realized I got the sizes switched in my original post. The mad hatter was 8 inches and Belle was 10 inches. I guess that's why this forum has an edit button lol.

Hi!

I am very interested in ordering a cake for myself and my Mother when we return to Disney. We have spoke about it and we both agree that we would like the mickey mouse head cake! But does anyone know if it's possible to get the hand piped one? We haven't picked a resturant yet in which to have it at, so if any of the chefs could do it, which would you think?

Thank you in advance!

The only place I've seen one with any frequency is the Contemporary, which also services the MK, Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. But you'd need to specifically request hand piping or you'll get the ganache-coated one.

We just returned from a birthday trip to WDW. It was for my 40th b-day and my husband surprised me with this cake:

DH designed this cake with the bakery chef, since the chef had no villain cakes to show DH for ideas. The chef took pictures of this one to use as an example for future guests who want a villain cake or something similar.

We were at Trail's End for dinner and our waiter told us that everyone in the kitchen and the waitstaff had been oohing and aahing over the cake since it arrived in the kitchen. The detail on the cake was so amazing, we didn't want to cut into it! I have to say, this cake was one of the best birthday presents I've ever received!

DH won't give me a specific amount, but I think it cost around $160.
