If you book a standard view room at WL what are the chances of getting a woods view u

I can't see paying and extra 900 just for a view... So what would the chances be for a upgrade at check in.

Pixie Dust happens but it is never guaranteed. It would be difficult to gusts guys chances as there are so many pieces to the Pixie Dust puzzle that have to fit just so for you to be granted a complimentary upgrade.

A lot of it depends on when you go and how crowded the resort is. We have had great luck being upgraded without directly asking for it, but our most recent trips have been in September.

What we do is make room location requests that make our preference known, even if it isn't exactly possible in a Standard view. We always know though that we could get a standard view room, and if we did we'd be fine with it.

Another factor to consider that isn't reflected in the bookable view categories is the view from the door end of the room, and whether it opens to the lobby. We have found that we like this view, and it is available in all three bookable categories. Be aware though that some people find the evening noise from the WCC restaurant to be loud, and therefore prefer a room away from the lobby.

There's always the great advice of "Book the minimum view you'd be happy with, and that way anything else you get is a bonus." No matter what view you pick you'll be staying at a beautiful resort.

Are you sure that's correct? I don't have rates for next year but for this June the difference was only $18 per night.

If you are not willing to pay then the chances are pretty slim

Upgrades occur based on the needs of the resort (e.g. overbooking, rooms taken out of service because of an unexpected problem). Asking for a free upgrade is the least likely way for it to happen. You might have a chance if you ask how much it would cost to upgrade to a woods view in which case you can accept or decline depending on the price you are quoted.

We have stayed at WL twice (third stay in a couple months). We booked standard view both times and both times we were upgraded to inner courtyard view. Last time we had two rooms which our TA did not link so we were originally assigned rooms on different floors on opposite ends of the resort. CM got us on same floor, same hallway with bunkbeds. Offered to pay for the upgrade but they said no. Never asked but always receive...so far. Have only stayed once in the actual room I paid for. Only at POR. Hint, be sure to rub Humphrey's nose before checking in.

I'm only seeing a difference of $16! I assume you're talking about a regular WL room. For Oct, for instance, I see a standard room listed at $360 and a woods view at $376. In order for there to be an extra $900, you would be there for over 55 nights!!

I think that multiple stays at the same resort helps with the chance of upgrades. Before pool view was a bookable catagory in the values DS and I were given one just a few months after a friend who had also stayed there previousy had also gotton a pool view on checkin.

Despite the pool currently being closed it seems as though the resort is pretty well booked. When DD called for her WL discount last week asked if she could get a bunkbed room insted. They would have let her have it however it was not available for her entire stay.

When I went back in May, we were with another family. I booked Woods View, they booked standard view and they were a few feet down the hall from us and has the same view of Wishes as we did. We were on the North wing 5th floor if that helps.

We were upgraded from standard to woods view. On previous visits, I always booked courtyard. Never again, I'm going for woods view-fun watching the ducks in the otter pond. That was one of our quick trips, so I knew we wouldn't be in the room that much and view wasn't go to be very important. It turned out that the first floor woods view patio was a welcome respite from the noise overload of Disney. If it is going to be a big deal, book woods view. I have been on many Disney trips and the only upgrades that I have ever received have been at Wilderness Lodge. We hit the jackpot with a courtyard view upgraded to a Junior Suite. That was the best trip ever. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

It's just luck of the draw really.

Lets say WL has 1000 rooms, 500 standard view and 500 woods view (as an estimate). When you book a room, the inventory can overbook the standard view rooms by however much it can sell which is usually the case since the standard view rooms are the cheaper option. So when you get to the resort, the hotel might have booked 600 standard view rooms and 400 woods view rooms. Those additional 100 rooms have no option but to be upgraded.

It happens at mostly every resort. At the resort I work at in Vegas, people sometimes get upgraded to penthouses which cost up to $12,000 per night since it's the only room available (mostly for one night reservations), haha.
