? about AKL club level - The DIS Discussion Forums

My husband would like to stay at the club level next time we go to Disney. I however have a few questions before we use that many points.

1.) What type of things are included if you stay club level?
2.) Can you get a savannah view?
3.) Is it worth it with little kids?

Thanks for any and all help!

(My 5 year old insisted I put the banana in)

Club Level includes daily housekeeping, access to the club lounge, refreshments at the lounge, access to the Itinerary Planning Office which can make various reservations for you, access to the Sunrise Safari tour at the Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

There are only five 2-bedroom lockoffs that make up Club Level at AKV. All are in Jambo House on the 6th floor. 3 face the Sunset Savanna and the other 2 face the Uzima Pool.

this poster actually means the sunrise safari (only available on certain days of the week).

as stated, the club rooms are all on the 6th floor and the savanna views from there are said to be partially obstructed by the roof.

unless i was taking advantage of the sunrise safari, i wouldn't spend the extra pts on club level but opinions vary...

It is incredibly hard to get. Many report it only being "worth it" to book the Sunrise Safari. With kids as young as yours, I don't think it would be worth the extra points, or money if you are renting.

in additon you cannot request savanna view. It is simply luck of the draw. Moreover, if you get savanna view, the view for those rooms is nothing to write home about. If you want concierge services, try for concierge. If you want savanna view do not do so but instead get a savanna view room.

Plus if you don't book it at 11 months out exactly, you may never get it. Even then, someone may have booked it the day before you if their trip starts the day before you.

Some of these few villas are handicap accessible, too. So no bathtub.

I was not able to get a reservation at 5:20pm at the 11 month mark for my first night. When I called at 9:00 am the next day, I was able to get it for 7 nights, with that day being the 11 month mark.

In regards to ADR's, beware, they did not book mine exactly at the 180 day mark, like they agreed to when I spoke with them a week earlier. I basically thought that they would be able to get me all of my ADR's at the times requested. They didn't. The day we are coming in, they did not get me ADR's at 'Ohanas until 8:35pm, when we will have been up at 3:00am. Later in our trip, we were able to get 'Ohanas for the time we requested from them. I think they really booked my ADR's at more like 177 or 176 days, and I received my confirmation of all my dining at 176 days out!

We just stayed in a savannah view one bedroom club level room a few weeks ago. It was our first visit to this resort. There is an overhanging thatched roof that covers the verandah, however it does not obstruct the view to the point where I felt like it was a drawback. You are on the sixth floor so you are one floor higher than any other savannah room at the resort, consequently you are looking more down at the animals instead of looking out at the animals. I have read reviews that state that the Sunset Savannah where these rooms are located is the worst one for animal viewing. This may be true however, We never felt like there was a lack of animals to view. The resort does a good job of drawing the animals to good viewing areas by placing their food in the appropriate areas. One time we had four giraffe eating breakfast right below our room. There are also zebra, some sort of antelope, and ostrich that spent a lot of time where we could see them from the room. Both the sunrise and sunset safaris are worth the money and if you get a club level room and don't do the sunrise one, you are missing out on a fantastic experience and value. There is a slightly better chance of getting a savannah view room as opposed to a pool view room, but even if you do get a pool view room, there are so many opportunities for viewing animals at this resort, you might not even notice that you won't see them from your room. After we did the sunrise and sunset safaris on back to back days we didn't even really care if we saw animals from the room anymore. The lounge is everything that has aleady been mentioned on this thread and others. We would certainly stay club level again if we had the points to spare. I booked at 9:00 am exactly 11 months out (online was not available at that time). This was spring break so I did not expect to get it for a Wednesday arrival, but it was available. I would say definitely give it a shot if it is available.

Absolutely worth it for the Sunrise Savanna alone (maybe consider a split stay). We went last year when my DS was 4 and he is an animal nut we loved the safari. The snacks, drinks and booze were great. We really enjoyed breakfast offerings as well.

So the sunrise safari is only certain days? Which days have they been doing it recently? That's the main reason I'd love to book concierge for a couple days, but with my luck, I'd get concierge on the days the sunrise safari isn't offerred!

The week we are going to be there (Oct 13 - Oct 20) the Sunrise Safari is being offered on Sunday 10-14 & Thursday 10-18.

I was underwhelmed by the concierge staff during my visit. I had to wait in line at the check in desk in the lobby for about 10 minutes before getting to the front of the line. Check in was very slow even though I checked in on line prior to arrival. Once we got our room keys we went up to the 6th floor and the two concierge hosts basically ignored us. No greeting, I said hi as I was passing and didn't really get a response. Later when I tried to get tickets it was like I was bothering them. Food was OK but they didn't replenish often. If you didn't get there when it was put out, it would be gone.

The housekeeping staff was very pleasant. Can't say too much other good things about it.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I may try for a type of split stay. This way we can try it out without spending tons of points. The sunrise safari does sound pretty cool.

we have stayed on the concierge level multiple times and never checked in at the ground level. we were always escorted to the lounge to check in.i will stay there every time if available. and dont underestimate the value of snacks through the day, daily housekkeping, and our the special safari.

One thing great about Disney and WDW is that there is something for every taste. Some people love Concierge, others can take it of leave it.

Give it a try, then you can judge for yourself.
