Non-DVC Timeshare question

A friend told me today that she is thinking of buying a timeshare from an acquaintance, but it's not a DVC one. She is looking at Shenandoah Crossing - when I looked it up, it is a Bluegreen Resort. Anyway, this person wants to sell the timeshare to her for $3,500. That sounded awfully high to me. I seem to remember hearing some of you talk about how some of the non-DVC timeshares are sold really cheap. I had told her that I bought a DVC resale, but that the company I went through dealt exclusively with DVC. Do any of you know of any companies that deal with non-DVC timeshares? Feel free to PM me privately.

looking on ebay, most BG contracts go for less than $200. sounds like a terrible deal.

i'd tell her to go join TUG and do research for 3-6 months and then look into buying a timeshare if it seems like it would be a good fit.

I agree, it sounds high. I also agree with post above: suggest that your friend read TUG for 6 months and ask lots of questions before pulling the trigger.

If I recall correctly, this property may have several different deed types. Some Bluegreen, some pre-Bluegreen, etc. Your friend would want to check out the background and be informed of the implications.

Here is an eBay auction for Bluegreen at Shenandoah Crossing to watch:

That's high whether it's a fixed week, points or an Undivided Interest (UDI). Whether it's worth even owning depends on specifics. If it's points and only 6-8K, it may not be worth even paying the $250 transfer fee. I can put them in touch with someone who will know for sure and offer them options (no benefit to me).
