How crowded is Disney in May?

We are going to be in Disney May 3-10. Is it typically busy/ crowded during this time? If you have gone during this time, how long did you have to wait for the popular rides? Any experiences or opinions would be very much appreciated!

We are heading down May 18th. The crowds aren't too bad. Half hour or so for the basic attractions. Probably an hour for the big hitters (TSM, Soarin, etc). If you use FastPass you should be fine. Thirty minutes is our limit, if the wait time is more then that we will pass. Using Fastpass we never had a problem.

we plan our annual girls trip for a week in May every year; its not too bad, crowds are moderate, weather is generally nice (though it may be hot this year, its been warmer than usual so far this year) and its before kids nationwide are on summer break and after spring break is a distant memory. 30-45 minutes on big rides in the afternoon. if you get to the parks early its no sweat.

we went last year in May and we didn't wait more than 20 mins for any attraction! we used fast pass as much as possible but gave most of them away because there was no wait in stand by. We also got there at rope drop every day so that did help and we hit up all the big attractions first.

I have been there in May several times. IMO May is a great time to go. I have never had an issue with large crowds before in May. I even went last year during Memorial day weekend in May and the crowds were surprisingly thin I think you will be good But like the previous post, I do think it will be a little warmer than normal...

we will be there April 28th-May 5th...We've been first week of May and always have found crowd level to be totally fine. The last time we did WDW the first week of May was in 2010, and it was a record breaking hot first week of May, low to mid 90s. So we roasted like chickens, but hey, we had fun!

We will be there those same dates!!! Hope its not too crowded. We ususally go over a holiday, Christmas, 4th of July and Memorial Day. So we are use to horrible crowds. It will be nice to be there at a non peak time.

May is a wonderful time to go! After Spring Break and before Summer crowds. If you are early risers you will find the crowds to be very low in the mornings and moderate in the later parts of the days. The headliners will always have a wait, but use FP and everything is great. Weather is perfect for swimming and utilizing the resort. In fact, I love it so much I'm going May 11-19th. Have fun!

Perfect time to go. We've gone at all different times of the year (January, April, May, August, October, first part of December) and the very end of April/first two weeks of May are absolutely our favorite time for the balance of crowds and weather.

So much so that we're headed down April 25-May 2!

I know it will be busy at the parks and value resorts 29th april to 5th May as the cheerleader will be down there in their masses but after that it should be pretty reasonable....we arrive on the 5th for a week.

We went first week in May of 2009, we didn't wait more than 15 minutes for a ride and the weather was great, pretty hot but not crazy, we liked it so much that we will be there May 1-8 this year!

I have been wondering about this, too! We will be there May 4-8 for our Disney wedding! We've been to WDW several times, but never in May, so I'm curious to see what it's like.

I've only ever been there on march break before, this year DH, the kids and I are heading down from April 29 - May 11 and I absolutely can not wait! I'm dreading the heat a bit, but I can't wait to enjoy the thinner crowds.
