Are you still battling Disney Depression? I know I am. Every time the Disney commercial comes on tv, my botom lip rolls out. LOL

So to back up and catch up a little...When I left off my TR the last time, I said that we were leaving Magic Kingdom at an insanely late hour. And that we poured ourselves into bed so we could get our fun on in Epcot the next day, right?

Well...

I lied...

The next day was another MK day!!!

(Silly me and getting my days mixed up!)

So anyways...here....we....GO!!!!!

After a blissful night's sleep, we woke up bright and early (9:00), and made our way to the Magic Kingdom. We had an early morning date with our friends in the Hundred Acre Wood!

We got to the park, which had been open for a while, and was already quite busy, and made our way down Main Street, and over toward The Crystal Palace. WOW was this place ever busy! We waited in line for 20 minutes just to check in and get a pager, and weren't paged for a table until over 30 minutes past our actual reservation time! YIKES!!!

No crisis here though, because we really didn't mind the wait. The Crystal Palace is a place that we love, so we don't mind to hang out and wait our turn. Once we were seated at our table, we had just enough time to fill our plate (YUM...Pooh's Puffed French Toast).... before the characters started coming by.

First up, is our pal, Piglet!

Piglet is always so sweet, and so lovable, albeit, a little bit shy. Took a little bit of coaxing to get this sweet picture. LOL

Next up, is my personal favorite...T-I-double guh-ER! TIGGER!!!

You can tell in these pics that he knows who loves him best. He's looking right at me in the second one. LOL I may or may not have been making googly eyes and kissy faces at him.

Next up, is Gregg's favorite. EEYORE!!!

Here's wanting "five"

and here, getting some much deserved love...

Now up? The main bear himself...None other than POOH BEAR!!!

After a wonderful breakfast, which I failed to take pictures of......we headed out and got a phone call from my cousin, her husband and their three girls. They were in Orlando that week as well, and this was one of their Disney days, so we planned to hang out that afternoon.

The girls all had so much fun together!!!

I didn't get any pictures, because the place was SO busy, and we spent most of the day in the hot sun, waiting in lines. Not very many good pic ops there. We were all too sweaty to care anyway!

After several hours of ride hopping, and frozen banana eating, it was time for them to catch the shuttle back to their hotel, and it was time for us to go take our afternoon nap!

Stay tuned to see what we do next!

So, after a well deserved nap, and showers for all, we were refreshed and ready to go again! It was almost dinner time, so we took our time getting ready. This was a very special night, and the one that I had been looking forward to the whole trip. Where were we headed, you ask?

This lovely place:

The California Grill

YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, we made our way to the bus stop, and caught a bus to the Magic Kingdom. Once there, we walked to the monorail station and hopped a monorail to the Contemporary Resort. We were about an hour early, so we spent some time perusing the gift shops and getting acquainted with the resort, just in case we decided to fork over the moo-lah to stay there one day YIKES!!!! Who am I kidding??? We'd have to win the lottery to get to stay there!

Anywho...once it was finally time to check in, we did so. We were told that the restaurant wasn't quite ready yet, and that when it was time, our pager would go off and we would meet somebody what's-his-name at he elevator to go up.

So...we walked to the other side of the floor, across from the checkin counter, and plopped ourselves happily on the couches.

Here is where the silliness began. Emma decided that she wanted to take some pictures...so this is what she got from her crazy parental units...

and this one...

We took some halfway normal ones too. But once I got home and was really looking at them, they were TERRIBLE! I mean...Gregg and Emma looked great! Me? The rest of me was all tanned and pretty, but my face? I looked like I stepped right out of the Haunted Mansion!!!! Seriously. It was bad. Scared the poop-ola out of me.

Finally, our pager went off! We got up and walked over to THE elevator, and we were greeted by a very nice guy who took us up to the restaurant. Once there, we were lead over to an area with small tables and cushy chairs for cocktails while we waited for our table to be ready. Our little table was in a perfect spot. It was right next the the window, and we had a perfect view of the Magic Kingdom. Made those "cocktails"...well...cokes, we were having taste all the more better.

When our table was ready, and very nice gentleman dressed in a suit came over and greeted us. He introduced himself to us as the manager, and gave us a walking tour of the restaurant. The place really is beautiful. Pictures just don't do it justice. He showed us the observatory decks, and let us know that even though we were dining early, we were welcome to come back to watch Wishes that night.

He led us to our table, pulling out mine and Emma's chairs for us, and let us know that our server would be with us shortly.

When our server came over, he was very friendly, and bubbly, and after introducing himself, and telling us a little about himself, he began to go over the menu with us. He left us to make our decisions, and then came back to take our orders for our appetizers and main courses.

Not long after, our appetizers arrived.

Gregg's first:

My husband ordered sushi. This is the Spicy Kazan Roll . . . Crab, Shrimp, Scallops, Tuna, Fireball Sauce. It was, in a word, FABULOUS. The Fireball Sauce had such great spicy flavor. It was just spectacular.

Here's mine:

I ordered the cheese board. It was five different types of cheeses with accompaniments that went with each one of them. OH MY GOSH was this ever good! I ate this very slowly, enjoying the different tastes of each of the cheeses, and then enjoying how the flavors changed when adding in their corresponding accompaniments. WOW. I was nearly speechless after this. I LOVED IT.

Emma's appetizer:

She wasn't feeling the Romaine Salad that was on the menu, so our wonderful server asked her if she liked fruit. They made her a fruit bowl with some cheese on the top. She loved it! There wasn't a bit left when she was through!

Now, here is where I will interject just a little bit. If you plan on going to California Grill, make sure you allow PLENTY of time. Here is why. They do not force your courses on you. After our appetizers. We were given time to settle, and talk, and just relax before our main courses began arriving.

Now on to the main courses. Gregg and I both ordered the same thing. Unfortunately, I do not recall exactly what they called it, because it was a seasonal dish, but I do know that it was lamb chops. And here the beauties are:

YUM-O, this suckers were good. They were HUGE! Gregg ate all of his, and then polished the rest of mine off. LOL

I don't know why, but I can't find my picture of Emma's. I am almost certain that I took one, but it seems to be missing. She ordered a steak. Now there is a very interesting story behind this. After our food came out, my husband was busy cutting up Emma's steak for her. The manager, the same gentleman that had brought us over to our table, came by. He looked at my husband and said, "Sir? Are you not on vacation?" My husband, perplexed said "Yes." The man then said, "Then allow me to cut that for her. That's what we are here for. You enjoy your meal, and let us take care of you." Ummm...WHAT??? This has NEVER happened to us before at a restaurant. We were floored. He very sweetly cut up Emma's steak and talked with us for a few minutes before excusing himself to let us enjoy our food.

After resting some after dinner, our server (who was so wonderful) brought out dessert menus. We went over everything on it with him, and even asked him what his favorites were. So here they are:

Gregg's:

He ordered the Valrhona Chocolate Cake. It was sinfully rich, and oh so yummy.

Mine:

I ordered the Bananas and Caramel. THIS WAS AMAZING! The sweetness of the caramel and the bananas went so well with the marscapone cheese. To say the least, I was in HEAVEN.

And Emma's beautiful dessert:

The kids sushi dessert is so adorable! Emma loved it!

Our wonderful server also brought out coffee with our dessert. After dessert, we sat and enjoyed our coffee and just took in the whole ambiance of the restaurant. Once the bill came, and we settled up with our credits, we went out to the observatory decks to look around, then headed back downstairs. To say the very least, we were one happy, full, family.

California Grill was an amazing experience that we cannot wait to go back for. All in all, I think dinner was about 2 and a half hours long or so, but it was so worth it. It was very relaxing, and the food was perfect. We can't wait to go back!!!

After dinner, we took the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom, and played for a while, before finally heading back to the room and passing out from eating WAY too much. LOL

Yay! So glad you are back! And that y'all had a great dinner at Cali Grill! I was SO looking forward to our dinner (belated anniversary dinner) at Cali Grill, but it was fairly disastrous . It's coming up soon in my TR. Hopefully, we'll get to go back on our next trip though!

YAY!!! I'm so glad to be back!!! It's been far too long, but now that I'm getting semi-settled in to my new job, I'll have more time. YIPPEE!!!

I'm sorry that your dinner at Cali Grill was disastrous. I'll have to pop on over to your TR and catch up, won't I? I am so behind on everything!!!

Thanks for still following along! I'm glad you're still here!

Yay! You're back! I'm glad things have settled down for you. Crystal Palace- I love that place! We're not going this trip, though. We're trying the qsdp. I think it will work well for us with a toddler who doesn't like to sit very long at a restaurant. We'll just have to plan another trip when he gets a little older! And we'll have to try California Grill when we do- it sounds amazing!
