Watching for President's Week here too. Booked free dining for this year but ended up changing plans. DH has a conference in Orlando that week so we are hoping for a bit of family vacation time too. Looking for free dining or a better discount than the AAA rate we are holding right now for the Dolphin. It is much higher than the rates I've booked at the Dolphin in the past- even for President's Week.

Hoping for FD as we have 5 people (4 of which are disney "adults") so FD would be the best discount for us. I noticed this year there was a blackout Feb 3-10. What was going on that week? I know there's President's Day later in the month, but is there something that typically goes on at disneyworld during that time frame?

I'm going for Mardi Gras week, the week before President's week. Hoping for free dining or a discount. I already booked my room.
Jennifer81 - you can't book packages yet because 2013 rates haven't come out yet (I heard summer - usually August but sometimes a little sooner). You can book room only by calling or through a travel agent to reserve your room. Then, when packages come out you can convert from room only to a package (and hopefully apply a discount).

Hoping for free dining here also.
I am going with 2 co-workers and our grandkids. So 3 grandmas and 4 kids. Can't wait because it is the first time for the other 2 families.

So waiting for February as well. I just spoke to a Disney reservations specialist and she said October was when they would announce 2013 pricing. I think she is full of it. Because then I said that doesn't even really leave people a 180 days to book their dinning reservations, she got quiet and just repeated that corporate doesn't have 2013 pricing out yet. ha-ha. She also indicated that I could book a room only now, but then would have to cancel it and rebook a package. Hmm. I'm skeptical on that as well. So I am just going to rely on the Disboards for the best info!

My 2013
We have our room booked for May 2013 and I would love to get a deal on DDP!! I am hoping that we will have prices by August so we can add our park tickets and DDP to our room ressie!
I don't have any idea how it would work but does anyone know what happens if free dining is offered during our stay and we want to upgrade the plan? |

yes you do have to cancel a room only reservation to get tix and dining added. they refund the deposit to your card. They will not reapply to your new reservation.
So essentially you lose nothing except deposit getting reapplied at that time of new reservation... Be aware if you have a special room type that is not offered with free dining then you will have to change to room within FD parameters. NOT ALL rooms are reservable for free dining. only a certain number of rooms. FD is a room filler for the less desirable rooms most of the time. Most will be listed as std view only.....although i do know some better rooms are sometimes available.... PS usually August for Pkg release pricing for following yr. free anything or discounts wont come out till after the initial surge of people reserving pkgs. Its wait and see for Disney to see if they need to offer big discounts or not...Discounts can be applied to pkgs, but as stated those rooms must be availble to get discounts.

I think it was the 2-3rd week of June when they released rates for the next year. I know it was early June. I was floored since they have always released in August. According to my emails that I have saved on my computer, they released free dining on August 8th. The day they released free dining I jumped on it and that was the date. It went through the end of March.
