White baseball pants, you're killin' me Coach!

DS has to wear white baseball pants this year. We will have to travel to most of the weekend tournaments, so not a lot of turn around time to get them clean. Any suggestions to prevent stains (anyone tried scotch guard) or best stain treatment without soaking time?

TIA!

I Scotchgard EVERYTHING that my kids wear. It does work.

Be sure to double-treat areas where he is most likely to get grass stains, friction can break through lightly applied Scotchgard.

Pair that with Zout for removing the surface stains, and you will probably be good to go. You probably still will need to bleach them if they yellow, and if you do, re-apply the Scotchgard afterward.

Get a second pair. How much is all summer of late night laundry, knuckle scrubbing and waiting for the dryer worth to ya?

I agree to just buy a 2nd pair. My boys have 2 pairs of baseball pants each because sometimes they have games 2 days in a row and I can't always get around to doing laundry between games.

Buy cheap shaving cream, as soon as you get home layer the pants in shaving cream..scrub the bad stains with extra shaving cream let sit overnight then wash them good.. the stains come right out..

We spray my DD13's white softball pants with clorox clean-up. Let it sit for 20 min then wash. It always takes the orange dirt stains right out.

I second the second pair of pants.

I've used fabric protectant and/or spray starch as a stain preventer. It works okay, except if they're sliding into bases.

My friend once pre-cleaned her son's muddy sliding shorts with a can of compressed air once the dirt had dried, lol. Send clouds of dust into the air, but it did keep it out of her washer.

If the pants are really dirty, pre-soak and wash them separately. In a pinch, Woolite rubbed into the spots is an effective stain remover, although the other suggestions work better. Still, if you're traveling and that's all you have, use it.

When I drink I find its easier to watch my children because I see all 3 of them double, so all 6 of them of them take all my attention

Does that work for any color fabric?
We had white pants last year and I loved it because I could bleach them. This year we have grey and I am worried that my stain remover stuff just won't work.

I used to use Spray and Wash Stain Stick on white baseball pants. I frequently had people ask how I kept them so white. It never failed me.

I use Oxi Clean spray mixed with Shout spray for DH's softball shirt (white).

We have white baseball pants here too. I like Southland brand and I use clorox gel bleach right on them, then toss them in with a tide boost gel pack. So far this is much cleaner than any stain remover I used last year! They are PERFECT white!

I'm a bad mom....the pants get washed, but I just don't sweat the stains If it doesn't come out with just a quick pre-treat, oh well. He plays 10 weeks of rec league every summer, gets a new pair each year. Yup, they are not pretty, but most of the boys in the team look equally stained up.

My ds's travel baseball team is in a few leagues and I feel your pain, especially with white but I would suggest getting at least 2 pairs and if you can 3, especially with tournaments, a few games on the weekend, etc.

BUT, I can tell you, while I do try to get out the stains with the Shout stain remover, however the stain ends up is how it is. Personally, I HATE to see clean baseball pants! If the pants are nice and dirty it means they had a good (hopefully) game. Clean pants can be had by bench sitting LOL

Good luck and embrase the stain LOL

Power wash them! Either on the driveway or hanging on clothesline... Works like a charm (just be sure to get your kid out of them first!).

My son plays a lot of baseball, has always worn white pants.

I agree with having more than one pair, for sure.

I've tried a lot of different, messy ways, but here's what I've done for the past year and the pants come out beautiful.

Fill washing machine with hot water on lowest water level setting. Add one full scoop of Tide with Bleach powder. Put in pants and agitate for 5 minutes or so, then let them sit for an hour. After an hour, agitate again for one minute.

I then add the rest of my whites, fill water level to high, maybe a little more Tide, and complete the wash.

Voila! And I didn't even have to get my hands slimy!

Wishing everyone a fun season!
