We're on the home stretch here! Good job getting out there for these last workouts. For those who struggled to complete their miles, don't sweat it. Trust your training. A big part of conquering the distance of a half is mental. It is much easier to do something if we tell ourselves we can rather than have to spend energy overcoming our self doubt.

We can do this!

Now to the packing.....that's the hard part. I'm such a over-packer and I think I need a good list.

Did someone post about a discount code for iFitness belts? Or maybe that was on the Princess thread? I am considering one of the race belts-the Ultimate II and would love to save a couple bucks.

YES! We need OPA... over packers annonymous

I'm terrible. But in places like CA and FL in the winter- you need pretty much every option just in case! Especially for a run!

Agreed! I've been to DL twice in January. The first time it was cold and poured. Last year for Tink it was nice and we spent a day at the pool!! I'm at the back of the pack and it was getting pretty warm at the finish and we started in short sleeves with no throw away shirts.

This reminds me, I wanted to ask...to anyone that's from the area, are the temps we had last year fairly average for that time of year there or were they cooler/warmer than normal? I wore compression capris, short sleeved tech tee and some homemade arm warmers on my arms for about the first 4 or 5 miles or so and felt just fine. Just curious if that was somewhat normal. Looking forward to being able to start stalking weather.com for 10 days!

Less than 2 weeks to go I'm excited, but the past few weeks have been miserable for training. I've been battling a sinus/chest congestion thing that just does not want to go away, so I've not been training like I should. Between that and all the traveling I did over Christmas/New Years, I've only done two 4-5 mile runs since mid-December. I had hoped to get a decent run in this past weekend, but just taking out the trash left me short of breath since my lungs are so full of crap Am hoping that all the training I've done the past several months will kick in and carry me through! Now I just need to figure out how to get well...

And I'm in for DDD! And I think my niece-in-law and great niece are going to meet me out there We were going to try to plan a week in WDW this summer for Haylie's first Disney trip, but my nephew is in the Air Force and cannot get leave. So, we figured a girls trip to DL would be a good replacement Haylie will be almost 2, so we're going to register her for the kids races. Can't wait! Now just need to book hotel and wait for decent airfare...

No, the worst was the 2nd year, '07 or 08'! IT. WAS. HORRIBLE!!!! There was a massive heat wave that weekend and when I crossed the finish line, it was already over 100! That was not fun at all. But I do miss the coastal fog we had for the next couple of years. We haven't had that for a while, so if I can put in an order for that now, I think we'll be good.

Not sure about the averages, but when I was there right before X-mas, I was in long tights, short sleeve and long sleeve over it. I ran past the Convention Center around 5:50 and it said is was 40 something, lows though not highs, and by the time I got to the Grand, my long sleeve was off and I was comfortable.

No I meant the summer of 2011. It was over 100 degrees for like 88 days that summer. Insane. Difficult to train even inside it was hot as heck.

In Texas!?! Are you serious!?! That's just plain wrong, I would need an air conditioned bubble around me if I was going to last that long over 100. Did it at least cool a bit in the evenings or mornings? I know I'm spoiled w/ the Cali weather but 88 days is just crazy talk.

Yep, that's what I trained for DL in. It was horrible...and add to that the disgusting humidity!

the elephant in my room

Okay I had planned to do a 10 mile run today BUT I ended up at the verizon store to buy new phones instead. We had dumb phones (flip phones) that were over 4 years old and DH's just fell into pieces.

After 2 hours at the store getting set up and a lesson in smart phones my brain is dead and now it is to dark to go run. And my feet hurt? whats up with that?

That phone is sitting over there on the desk getting charged and laughing and mocking me. I have less than 2 weeks to learn how to use the camera and how to send texts so I can use it while I am at disney for tinkerbell.

On another note it got kind of warm here today for this time of year but it was a reminder to me that I need to have more than one option for what to wear at the run. I'm thinking more like short sleeves with a throw away jacket for warmth if it is below 40. I will still take my long sleeve that I wear for my cold and wet run here just incase it gets really cold for the race.
