Excursions with small children

We will be cruising in a few weeks with two small children - 4 (almost 5) year old and a 9-month-old. Any suggestions for excursions on St Maarten or St Thomas?

5 year old will probably love Coral World (check out their web site). 9 month old doesn't care as long as fed, dry, and not too hot.

We have done DCL when our son was 2, 3, and now 3.5 in a few weeks... For us any of the "beach excursions" are the best/ most enjoyable with young children. Most are 4-5 hours which is enough time but not too long. HTH Christine

We did Coral World with our then 4 and 2 year old girls last year and they loved it. We chose the Coral World by Land and Sea option and took the semi-submersible ride before exploring the aquarium park. The girls were amazed and they still talk about it!

On St. Maarten we just did a beach day and they had a blast with that too!

Good luck with your choices!

We've stayed on St. Thomas (while not cruising) and realized that some cruisers took taxis to our resort to use the beach... no cost for using the resort at all. It was Secret Harbor, is off the beaten path, a short taxi ride (as is the majority of the island due to size), and is family friendly. That being said, it was 5 years ago, so look into it to be sure there have been no changes since. If not, I'd go back with a young family in a heartbeat. Btw, there are really tasty restaurants on the main street that would fit anyone's budget. Our fav was the bbq and REALLY good. There's an antique store right next door owned by a long-time resident of the island who is more than generous with valuable contacts around town.
