Agreed with this. Week 6 of training is kicking my butt. Hoping to hit 45 miles, but damn, my legs are tired.

I have freaked out a few times. My highest mileage thus far is 13.1 and sometimes that feels like too much! I have given myself permission to just finish. Walk Run Crawl, whatever it takes! Once I have done some higher mileage runs I will make the final decision, but my plan is to run 15-20 miles and walk the rest if need be. You can do it!

I am freaking out! I feel like I hate running and feel like I am crazy for signing up for this. I start thinking about running that far and I almost feel a panic attack coming on. I just want to give up I have my long run tomorrow and I am already dreading it. Does anyone else ever feel this way?
I get really nervous too. I've only done halfs & did the 15 mile training run 2 weeks ago. I incorporated it with a local half & then walked 2 miles to make up for the distance.

This weekend I'll so 17 which is making me very nervous... I'm sure ill feel better about the whole process once I get these higher mileage runs in.

I think it's nerves due to uncharted territory

I tell ya, I am PUMPED for tomorrow's long run. Scheduled for 17 but will end up doing 18 because I have two loops of 9 mapped out. I ran 5 on Monday and didn't do much on Wednesday. Just felt blah. So my legs are telling me, come on let's go!! Getting my replacement Garmin watch today helped also.

Any guesses as to what the theme for the limited time magic will be the week leading up to the marathon?

Don't worry! I was all sorts of freaking out the week before my first marathon which was on 10/7. And I made it! You can to!

Had an awesome log run this morning. 10 miles in 1:45 - that's almost 15 minutes faster than I've run that distance before.

I signed up for the WDW Half back in April hoping just to finish - at the time, I had all of 10 weeks of running experience under my belt.

Now, I think I can be under 2:20 for WDW (it will be my third half marathon by the time I finally get there, though it was the first one I signed up for).

I have to remember to bring the results of the Philly Half Marathon with me to the Expo so I can move out of the last corral. (That race is too late to submit the proof of time via email).

Getting ready to head to Detroit for the night to run my 5th half marathon this year. One step closer to running my first marathon at WDW in January. Looking forward to the run over the bridge tomorrow morning into Canada for the international part of the race.

Hi all,

Just wondering how any running rookies are doing with their training out there? I'm following Galloway's program, and what puzzles me is that I'm roing a 20 running / 40 second walking routine on my runs. According to Galloway, that should put me at a 15 minute marathon pace, yet I'm timing myself at a 12 minute pace?! I know everyone is different, I'm just curious if anyone is noticing that as well. Can't wait till January!

You could email him and ask, but I bet he would say you should change your ratio. 20/40 is normally reserved for slower beginners with less endurance than you seem to have. But if it works for you, keep it.

Home from my first 17 miler! Holy hell that was hard! I had to walk a few times. My stomach was really hurting. I managed a 11:25 min/mile pace even with all the walking. I ran downtown (usually just run in the Bronx) and ran into the Avon cancer walk. Great to see all those people moving for a good cause. Only bad thing was they were all sitting on the walkways and I tripped over a dog's leash and fell at mile 16. I caught myself funny and hurt my shoulder. Wah!

I'm taking from this run the very important motto of "just keep moving forward!". Everything hurts but I did it!

I thought I'd run by Amy but no such luck!
