I would doubt that since Disney is only using that port for a short time. The one at PC is only used by Disney I think, so I would guess they own it.

And I am afraid after all my research and looking at costs, we have decided to move our sailing date out to December 2013 and wait for the 2014 dates to open. So we are going to miss our chance to sail the Wonder.

But our decision has a lot to do with the fact that our DDs will be 19 and they are looking for a different vacation experience, and the fact that looking at airfare, it would cost a lot for 4 of us to fly to Miami and figure out all of the transportation issues to go on a 4 night cruise.

But I wish all of you well on your cruise. Enjoy the Wonder! We love that ship! And hope to sail it again one day

Smile Magical Express to Miami

After reading all the posts, it sounds like Disney still has not "officially" organized any sort of airport transportation or home port for Miami. I will follow the previous post regarding a waitlist (thank you Disboards). None of this sound very typical for Disney. We are used to professional, well done, well thought out, no detail missed kind of experience from Disney. So far, I'm not feeling that for our 2013 Miami cruise. Still looking forward to it!

We are flying into FLL the day before our cruise. There are six of us. Trying to figure out what we are going to do. Are the hotels by the port listed in this thread ok with kids. Will have almost a full day there. Was thinking staying in Fort Lauderdale might be better with kids and then maybe getting a car service to drive us to port.

Were flying in the day before also, there are 5 of us. I'm anxious to see how much the airfare is going to be. From FLL were renting a van from Budget thats $100,then were heading to the port and staying at the Sprinhill Suites. That will be $190.00. Hotel around Miami seem to be more expensive. I wish I could find one cheaper that's close to the port and has a full breakfast. There's not much info on the hotel's and such around the port yet. I've already booked my van and hotel just in case .

Booked our airfare yesterday...sort of. I found one way airfare to MIA for $139 so I booked the flight down. The same flight is already $50 more, today!! It's crazy how much the airfare changes all the time.

We sailed out of Miami a few years ago and don't recall anything sounding that crazy. We flew into FLL and took a limo to the port.
This is the company we used and they were awesome (prompt, clean vehicle, safe driving) but I do admit it was in 05; hopefully they're the same great service.

The port is literally downtown Miami. With downtown hotel prices. I would not think anything close to the port would be cheap. Or it could be in a part of town not so desirable.

I would stay in FLL. We drive to the port and sometimes go down the day before and have never stayed in Miami... Ft Lauderdale feels more natural to us, Miami is very urban. So depending on where you are from and what you want to do you can make your choice.

Have you looked over on www.cruisecritic.com for info? There should be a ton of info over there.
