Comfort Suites - Atlantis Day Pass

Has anyone booked this through Comfort Suites recently? We have a room booked in Nassau and plan to spend the whole day at Atlantis. I have some questions...

How far is the taxi stand from the boat?
Is it still within the secure area of the pier or out on the street?
Will we be approached by touts when making our way to the taxi?
Once at Comfort Suites, how far is the walk to Atlantis?
Did you have any problem finding loungers around the pool or beach areas?
How did you secure your wallets/passports while using the pool/beach areas?
Any recommendations on where to eat at the resort?
Any other helpful hints or suggestions?

Thanks so much!

We just got back from a Carnival Cruise and booked the Atlantis excursion. I was uncertain about booking through the Comfort Suites, but once I saw the set up wish I had. I will answer what I can.

Not sure about where the taxi stand is-but if it is near where we boarded the shuttle it is super close. When we left Atlantis, there were taxis waiting that were closer then our shuttles. The Comfort Suites imo is super close to Atlantis. I had read it was a ten minute walk or so, but I doubt it is even that far. I could easily see Comfort Suites from where we entered Atlantis.

Walking to our shuttle from the ship--we had a few people ask about hair braiding and selling bottled water. A simple "no thanks" and they moved on.

Plenty of loungers on the beach and various pool areas. We had to search a bit at the kids play area, but still found a couple. We rented a locker (via credit card) for the day. A medium size locker was $9--it held six pairs of sandals, passports, sunscreen, small bag and our swimwear coverups, and our complimentary beach towels, because we didn't want to carry them around. On board our ship we had purchased a small waterproof bag that we used to carry a credit card and our meal vouchers. One of us just wore it. The locker key went around your wrist.

I can't answer all of your questions, but hope that helps a bit.

Have fun!

Thanks Amy! I'm happy to hear there are lockers available. I will have to get the waterproof bag you suggested - great idea.

We are really looking forward to exploring Atlantis. The cost through Comfort Suites was a fraction of the DCL excursion - so definately worth the extra "hassle" to get to the resort on our own.

just off the Dream and booked comfort suites saved us a lot of money. its 4$ per person for the taxi as soon as you get to the market place you will have lots of people trying to get you to take a taxi!!!

Comfort suites is right across the street from Atlantis. 5 minute walk. check in at comfort suites then walk over. we were told to stand in line in the casino to get our bands which was WRONG wasted 30 minutes in that line you go through the casino and down stairs by the aquaruim to get your bands.

Atlantis was fun, kids loved the slides but i thought the set up was confusing and hard to find things. glad I didnt spend the $$$$ and book through Disney.I thought the comfort suites price was worth it though. Give yourself time to get back to the ship. It took probably 10 minutes to get to Atlantis from the ship but almost 45min. to get back because of traffic!!!!

What all is included at the Atlantis when you book a room at the Comfort Suites?

Do you just book it off of the web site like you would a regular resi or is there something special?

Is there a problem about arriving before the regular check in time?

Comfort Suites - only 4 Atlantis pass per room?

There's 5 in our group: 3 adults 2 kids 8yo/7yo, but it seemed per room has a max of 4 Atlantis passes. After I tried to add another room (2 rooms for 5 people, both rooms are cheapest), the cost for 5 people was more than what I would pay for the DCL Aquaventure excursion. And this is just for the rooms (incl all the taxes and surcharges). So I went with the DCL excursion instead, we'd be in Nassau on Apr 20 2012.

I guess the key to getting a good price is the date when you want to go, which rooms can be booked, and the number of people. A group of 4 people seemed to get the most value from the Comfort Suites arrangement.

We booked our room at the Comfort Suites 8 months ago. It was $189 (about $240 with all the additional fees). I kept watching it climb in price over the last while and now the rooms are all sold out for our date. In comparison, The DCL excursion for a family of 4 would be over $600.

It's my understanding that there is no problem checking in early at the Comfort Suites. You then have full access to the beach, pools and waterslides at Atlantis.

I will definately post my experience when we return. I love a good deal!

When I priced it out for us to reserve a room at comfort suites for 4 of us, myself, husband, 2 sons 18 & 16 (considered adults) the price for the day we want in February 2013 is $320 but when you add the tax, all the fees they charge for housekeeping, energy charge? & additional 3 & 4th person charge, the price only came out $90 cheaper than booking thru Disney. What makes me want to go with doing the disney excursion is that at least we get the bus included and lunch.

I am not sure if I am doing the math right or not. It does say on the website that the 3/4th person is charged $40

unless Comfort Suites has changed their site, the 3rd 4th guest rate is included in your nightly rate. You can do an experiment to check, try to book the same room with only 2 adults and go all the way to the page before you put in the CC info. Check the night rate and the total rate. The back out and then start over and do the same again but with 4 adults. You should see the nightly rate go up by $80. (or if you're more confident, unlike moi, you can see on the tab 'Best Available Rate from 324' and then note the cheapest nightly rate shown is $80 more than that at 404)

When we used Comfort Suites in Oct, the estimated total was the final cost when we checked in. There is the disclaimer about the housekeeping and whatnot fees being collected at checkin, but we found that is was included in the estimated taxes line item.

Now - I booked direct at the Comfort Suites website, not Expedia or any 3rd party so it may be different there.

You do have a great rate. I was considering this for our dates and the room was $279 plus taxes etc. One thing to keep in mind however is that if the ship does not dock you will lose your money as you are not able to cancel within 24 hours-(as I have read from other threads). Also, make sure you leave Atlantis with plenty of time to get back on the ship.
Booking through Disney you will not lose your money if the ship doesn't dock nor will you be stranded on the Island if you miss boarding the ship if the bus breaks down.
This last part is just for informative purposes since you asked about hints etc. It is not meant to scare you. Not being able to dock in Nassau is a pretty slim chance but it can happen. I would take a bus or taxi since if there was a break down there are plenty of taxi's around to be able to get back to the ship. The ferry would carry a little more risk.
I would totally do this excursion with the rate you have!

We booked Comfort Suites earlier this month. I booked via Travelocity using points with my credit card. As we were leaving the pier a taxi driver asked us where we were going - we indicated Comfort Suites and she gathered our party of 3 with another 4 people and we headed off in her van taxi to Atlantis - about a 10 minute drive and $4 a person each way. Checking into Comfort Suites was a breeze, they do this often. No issue checking in at 9:30 am. We were given our id to go get wrist bands at the Royal Tower I beileve which is a short walk from the Comfort Inn. Once you are past the casino, you'll be asked for your ID and directed down the stairs by the aquarium to get your wristbands for the water park.
We had no problem finding loungers and we placed ourselves near the hospitality center where there are change rooms and lockers. We purchased the $7 small locker for our cameras and beach bag. Keep a credit card on you if possible as they do not accept cash at most of the restaurants (we did see one that did).
When we left about 4:30 we went to the Royal Tower lobby and there were cabs waiting - it was a bit longer on the way back with traffic as mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the info!!! I was adding the extra fees & additional adults in the room which made the price ridiculous, now it seems much more reasonable

this is very much a possibility and we went into it knowing it could happen. and then it almost did
we were on the Oct sailing that got stuck at the dock due to weather and so we didn't get to Nassau on Monday as planned, fortunately we arrived at Nassau on Tuesday.

If something happens call the hotel directly (there should be a direct number on the confirmation) We found the ladies at the front desk were most helpful. They are very aware cruise passengers do this alot We told them that due to transportation issues, we could not arrive as expected on Monday but should be there Tuesday, could we switch the reservation for the same rate? They said "You're on one of the cruise ships stuck at the dock, aren't ya?" I said yeah it sucks and they said they got a bunch of calls with delays because of the storm. She was able to transfer my reservation to Tuesday for close to the same rate (literally just a $5 increase - new bookings were at least $50 more on the website) and it all worked out.

I don't know what they can do for flat out cancellations but it never hurts to call. We were also there in Oct when it's not so busy so I think there was much more flexibility. Everyone has their own acceptable risk level so only do what you're comfortable with.

I have had to change nights, flat out cancel, and rebook (all on the same cruise!) and wasn't charged a dime. Every change was within 24 hours of the reservation and I could have been penalized for any of it and never was.

When I rebooked they even gave me my original, very low, rate.

All of this was done by calling the hotel directly. They were awesome.
