Epcot Pick a Pearl HELP

I understand that at Epcot you don't have to have your pearl set into a piece of jewelry. But the pearl I pick will be a present for my mother so I'd rather not bring it home in one of the little plastic bags as this looks rather boring!

Does anyone know if there are any display/presentation bags or boxes at Epcot?

Anything like that I could purchase so that it looks more like a gift?

Thank you for any help!

I have never seen anything offered for the pearls specifically, but I am sure you could pick up a small decorated trinket box somewhere perhaps even in the Japan pavilion.

By the way, to the DIS Boards!!! We are glad that you are here!

I have not seen anything but I haven't really looked either. You could always get a jewelry pouch that's felt or velveteen and put in there. Or you could get a ring box from a local jeweler and wedge it in the ring slit.

may you find a gigantic pearl in your oyster!

I just did pick a pearl in January. I did get a setting for mine, but you don't have to. They do sell a small glass vial with a ribbon on it that you can put just the plain pearl in. It may or may not have had sand in it, I can't remember that. I believe it cost maybe 3 or 4 dollars. They also had some small gift boxes that you can purchase as well so you don't have to use the zip bag, also for pretty cheap. Hope that helped!

You can also get a "pearl cage" before you go. They are very inexpensive on eBay and would not be permanent, but will make a nice presentation.

The settings aren't too expensive either. I chose a simple necklace setting for $12. They also had a $10 one. They asked me if I wanted a gift box. They were $1.50 I think. I chose a simple cardboard box which was free. I saw chains there for $10 and I didn't buy it. I thought I would wait until I got home. When I did I went to Walmart and got a simple silver chain and it cost me $15 so it would've been cheaper to buy it there.

thank you so much for all your replies

it's good to know there are a few options, and at reasonable prices too!

I have seen some beautiful settings on here but unfortunately it's for my mother and she believes it's unlucky to wear a pearl unless it's your birthstone - and it's not hers

It seems not a lot of people have heard of the pick a pearl...does anyone have any other hidden gems that maybe not everyone knows about?

I just love cute little experiences like this

They also sell small jewelry boxes that people purchase to store their new earrings, necklaces etc... I bought one for about $2. You could just purchase the smallest of the boxes for your pearl. The boxes have a lining.

When I choose my pearl it was given to me in a pink satin bag, this was in DTD but I am sure the same applys in Epcot. Also a hint in picking you pearl, the woman who runs it told me that the uglier the oyster the more pretty the pearl. that was true for mine which was a large size and pink and my sister who got two pearls in one oyster

My mother and I did this in Japan pavilion yesterday. It comes in a plastic bag until you get a setting. The jewelry boxes are 2.95 and up. If I had not chosen a necklace setting (or something wearable) I would have chosen the glass vial with sand. It was a nice presentation. Speaking of which we much preferred the experience in Japan to the kiosk at DTD. Happy hunting!!

Not to hijack, but I am excited about this for my 7 and almost 5 year old sons. My 7 year old, in particular, loves "bling" and I know he would love to wear his. I've never done this at WDW before, but do they have any kinds of settings for boys, or would the glass vial be masculine enough for him to wear? Thanks!

The glass vial they had on display had dark blue sand and looked like a "message in a bottle" type of bottle/vial. Take a look your son would probly like the picking a pearl. My son wanted to do it but he had had enough special things for him at that point.
