I think the reason is because my ressie starts on the last day of the Feb. school vacation. I tried every coupon on mousesavers, and no coupons work except the upgrade, and then it says to stop at the counter.
Using no coupons gets me the Emerald Isle, but it's about $45 more for 2 weeks. I guess I have to decide if it's worth going directly out, or saving the $45. Or maybe, since I have no coupons, I will not stop at the counter and see if they will let me through. Thanks again for the great codes!

Thank you Op for the tip on the code!! Signed up for Flying Blue no problem! This is an awesome rate for my placeholder reservation, as always I will keep looking. Beats my previous rate with Budget and has all insurance included. To everyone who is skeptical this is very typical for a foreign code to include this at little or no charge. Biggest plus for me is it's National and can you say Emerald Isle!!!

Ok I'm a Nervous Nancy so I called National and they said our rental with FlyingBlue membership is all fine and good. They said because we used an upgrade coupon from compact? up to Midsized we have to stop at the counter... but will still be able to pick from the Aisle. She said the rental was legit and all was in order. She said any coupon at anytime can come up with the Counter Grade. I will take the upgrade coupon from Emerald Club members with me and my handy dandy FlyingBlue membership number with me. (not sure how long it will take to get the membership card)

I was actually getting frustrated with only finding a good rate with Budget - who i haven't used before. Then i thought....maybe someone knows something that's going a different month - so I checked the thread for March - and there it was! Moral for me - check all the threads!

Not only do you get a good rate with this code, it also includes a lot of the fees so that is a HUGE savings too! I'll be anxious to hear some feedback after some of you folks return from your trips, as I have several trips that I'm planning and this could save me big $$. Thanks to the OP!

I just posted this in the March thread, but I thought I would post here too since this email is specifically about the KLM Code and I have some concerns. Mostly about how they are crediting back taxes/the line by line breakdown and whether the rate is only for non-US renters(Passport rates). Here is what I posted in the other thread:
There is something very weird about that Air France/KLM Flying Blue Discount. Has anyone used it yet and had it work at the rental counter? It includes all the taxes, recoup fees, and every other fee in the very discounted base rate. It also includes the extra insurance(s) for nothing which would normally be expenses. I have never seen a discount code do this before. It also showed another line were it actually credited some of the tax back due to the $35 National Coupon being applied. For anyone who booked it, check out the line by line on the reservation online (slightly different than what is shown on the email confirmation). It also shows the contract idea as XXXXXXX on the reservation when the Continental code I used before showed on that reservation. Anyone else think something is not right? Here is the breakdown on the car I reserved. Note that the 6% state tax shown that is calculated is also not 6% of anything I can see. Base Rate - Standard (USD) (1) Time & Distance ($214.85/Rental) $214.85 Discount Coupon Accepted ($35.00) Contract ID XXXXXXX Inclusive Rate Items No Charge Distance Included Loss Damage Waiver Full Included Supplemental Liability Insurance Included Rental Car Facility Chrg 3.95/day Included Concession Recoupment Fee 10 Pct Included Florida Surcharge 2.00/day Included Tire/battery Fee .02/day Included Vehicle License Fee .69/day Included State Tax (6.0%) $6.31 Guaranteed Base Rate Included Unlimited Miles Included For information on coverage products, ex:Loss Damage Waiver(LDW) click here Subtotal $186.16 Taxes, Surcharges and Fees Concession Recoupment Fee 10 Pct ($3.50) State Tax (6.0%) ($2.31) Subtotal ($5.81) Estimated Total Estimated charges are confirmed based on the information you have provided; only taxes, fees, and surcharges are subject to change. $180.35 I do worry about the rate being honored though as it says it is 20% off Passport rates on the KLM site. Even though I could not find anything about passport rates on the National website, I did a quick search on it and saw that they were special rates on the European market and included taxes b/c that is standard for how the rental companies do it in Europe. I am not sure that the rate will be honored even with a Flying Blue club card that anyone can get if it is a U.S. customer. Although, my reservation is under my Emerald # and also clearly shows my country of residence as US above the total rate at the bottom. I am interested to see if this does or has worked for a U.S. Customer. . . especially an Emerald Club member who does not even have to go to the desk. I really hope it works for me as a U.S. renter and I am certainly going to try it as I will have a backup reservation. However, I was just looking for some first hand accounts of U.S. renters getting the discount when they picked up their car (including the insurance and taxes). The way my reservation shows a credit for the taxes as I pasted above just seems like a bug or something. Does your reservation show a credit like I showed above for Taxes and Surcharges? Also, try and pull up your reservation made with the KLM site code on the National.com website. Go down to the Modify button and see what it says when you click it. It says it cannot be modified on the National.com website. It also says this if you click the cancel button. What is that all about? I will call them about this as well of course. When you click on partners and then on car rental and national, nowhere does it say anything about residence restrictions. You enter your cow try of residence on the same page where you enter the contract ID, if there were something about being a us resident that would interfere, I assume that you would not be allowed to continue to the next screen with US as residence and the KLM code. I am confident that the code will be no problem. If they tried to deny it after letting the ressies go through and sending me a confirmation and me having the proper Flying Blue membership, I would have a big issue with that. And if I have an issue, they have an issue. I don't make a stink about the small stuff - but something like that would have me seeing red and I am sure National wouldn't do it.

I just went to KLM flying blue, USA was listed as country on the top of the page. Went to earn points, then partners, then car rental, then National....same code came up.
And yes, you cannot modify this code online, no problem by phone though, I've already done it twice.

I called The Flying Blue partners customer support line and asked them about this line:
And, as a Flying Blue member, you benefit from a discount of 20% on Passport Rates worldwide. He said the Passport rates have nothing to do with a passport. It's got to do with the National Car frequent traveler miles vs Flying Blue frequent flier miles. Your basically passing on the National frequent traveler miles for the Flying Blue miles. He said we should have no problem using this code. Was this support person just guessing?? I don't know. I'm not sure I completely understood his explanation. The number is: 1-800-375-8723 if anyone else cares to ask.
