What to do if not going to the Parks?

I know there is a ton to do around WDW without going to the actual parks. We have 2 days prior to a cruise that we are staying at BLT, and I am just wondering:
What are some of your favorite things to do around BLT and WDW without going to the parks?

We love to walk around the Boardwalk resorts. The atmosphere is great, and there is such an energy there. You can't go wrong at Downtown Disney either.

If you have a car we always do the Disney outlets or the mini golf.

We enjoy going to Downtown Disney and also just resort hopping to eat at the various restaurants there.
Sometimes we go to waterparks or the mini golf.

If you are going to be at BLT you could hop on the monorail and visit/shop/eat/just walk around and enjoy the ambience at the other resorts. Also, downtown Disney would be a favorite as well

You can spend a relaxing day at Fort Wilderness. They have bicycle and canoe hire, archery and many other activities. There are various walking trails. The Segway Tour there is a must do for us. You can also sit on the rocking chairs outside the Tavern and let the day go by. Then finish the day with a meal at Trails End Restaurant.

Smile boat to fort

I agree that a trip over to Fort Wilderness is always nice. You can get a boat from the contemporary over to either fort wilderness or wilderness lodge.
There is a great walking trail between the two where we always see lots of wildlife. The trail comes out near the horse barn and you can visit the horses.
Takeout dinner from trailsend is good and there are lots of picnic tables around. Enjoy.

We've done everything listed except Fort Wilderness. We pool hop (when available) with the kids while I explore the resort. We've spent evenings at the Boardwalk and it is great. We always visit Downtown Disney and browse and eat. We've visited the outlet Malls several times. I guess our favorites in order are:

1) Visit Resorts
2) Boardwalk
3) Downtown Disney
4) Outlet Malls

*There is so much to do and enjoy, you don't HAVE to visit parks to have a great time!

In recent trips, we've enjoyed a leisure day sleeping late and a day at the pool. We also have done a dinner theater (Arabian Nights or the Pirates Dinner theater).

Some other options:
ESPN/Wide World of Sports - catch a spring training baseball game, if going that time of year or see whatever sporting events are going on.
Golf - many great courses at WDW or around the area.
Gaylord Palms Resort - three acres under a glass ceiling recreating Key West, Everglades, and St. Augustine and some very good resturants.

If you are going to explore SSR try to do it on bicycles if possible. We rented bicycles and took an hour long bike ride through SSR and the treehouse villas.

I have also read that you can eat an "Untamed" lunch at Sanna with a Disney Animal Specialist. We probably are going to try this when we are at the AKV in October.
