Saratoga Springs or Old Key West?

Due to limited availability these are the only resorts available that will give me a one bedroom option with sofa sleeper in living room. Which is better for ambience and location to the parks?

Thanks ~~

Its really up to you. Ssr is a lot newer. They have 2 main pools too. They're both near dtd and are roughly the distance to the parks. Either one you choose you'll have a great time .

We've stayed at both, and enjoy both of them. Our next trip we'll be at SSR. That being said, the 1 bedroom unit is much larger at OKW than at SSR. So while SSR may be newer, my family appreciated the SPACE to spread out. On our June trip, we have a 2 bedroom, so we'll be back at SSR.

Rapunzels do you know where I can get floorplans of both properties' one bedroom units? Thanks again.

Keep in mind that OKW is the oldest DVC and is some what dated and I believe they are still updating some of their rooms and only a few buildings have elevators. I know that all of the SSR rooms have Thomasville furniture and feature granite counter tops. SSR construction on the last building stopped around 2007, however, The Paddock feature pool was finished last summer. Hope this helps.

Darkside is correct in OKW is on the dated side, compared to SSR. Please keep that in mind. We have stayed at OKW 3 times though. It is acceptable and by no means a dump, from our experience. SSR is much nicer, though.
But on your question on the floor plans, SSR 1 bedroom is 714 sq ft, while OKW states 942 sq ft. That's a hugh difference, IMO. You can google online easily to get the floor plans.

OKW 1 bedroom is much larger and has a sleeper chair in the living room, in addition to the sleeper sofa.

OKW has just been completely renovated. There is a big debate on whether the theme has been changed. To truly appreciate OKW you have to remember the theme of the resort. It is decorated to be like turn of the century key west. They now have granite counter tops as well. It all depends on the theme that you enjoy. OKW is very laid back and beautiful. SSR is gorgeous and the landscaping can't be beat. Some feel that SSR doesn't have enough of a disney theme. Again, Remember Disney is big on themes. I truly love both resorts as i love all the DVC's for their own feel they bring. Hope this helps some.

What is the internet service like at these 2 resorts? Is WiFi available and is it free?

We enjoyed SSR a little more than OKW, mainly because we love to stroll around the resort when not at the parks, and SSR offered better walking areas, in our opinion. Being able to walk to Downtown Disney in just a few minutes was wonderful, as we spend a lot of time there. You can walk there from OKW also but it is much longer. I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever you choose though, have fun!

SSR, hands down.

I've stayed at both.

SSR = better location, better dining, nicer decor/rooms.

Being able to walk to Downtown Disney, and the steak at the Turf Club clinches it for me.

All depends on what you're looking for in a resort. OKW may be the older one, but the villas are so much bigger than any resort at Disney! Last stay at OKW was November & was told that all villas have now been refurbished. It was very nice! Haven't stayed at SSR for a number of years, but when I did, the bus service was just terrible!! That could have been corrected by now. Both resorts have boats to DTD, but you can walk from SSR. Good luck on your decision!!

I've stayed at both.
SSR was newer, but I liked the "cozier" feel of OKW. Seemed about equal in terms of getting to parks. Try to request unit near main buildings at either resort if you are using the bus system and want to do pools, etc. as internal resort buses seemed a bit sporadic, at least when I was there.

You can't go wrong with either, truly. You can walk to DTD from OKW too, it just takes longer. Boats available from both. Nice sit down restaurants at both. OKW might have a more relaxing vibe to it. If you want more square footage, OKW wins hands down.

Enjoy your vacation!
