Are all hotels smoking hotels ???

Thinking to bring my kids to Vegas for a few days after Disneyland. Now I know Vegas is not really for kids but we don't intend to stay up late and I think we should be fine and kids will be in bed by 10pm anyway but now I read some reviews about hotels (Treasure Island) and someone mentioned that smoking is very heavily even in restaurants.
One thing I really hate is smoking and definitely don't want a smoking environment during dinner time. Is smoking really that bad in Vegas hotels ? Is there any hotel that is non-smoking ?
The other question is, I heard a lot of people saying that you need to walk through casinos in hotels before reaching certain areas. Do they allow children walking through the casino's ? TIA !

Smoking is allowed in all the Casino floors and you Have to walk through almost every casino to get from here to there in a hotel. There is no way to completely avoid the smoke. The restaurants have smoke free areas, but it is not completely free of smoke.

The Platinum Hotel is an all-suite, non-smoking, non-gambling hotel two blocks off the strip....with a full kitchen.

We are going to give it a whirl.....and just visit all the other hotels.

you can smoke a lot of places here. though the nicer places you visit the better ventilation they have and the less likely you will notice it.

i dont smoke, never have and most likely never will and i consider myself pretty sensitive and you are suppose to smoke where food is served with having dividers up. so pretty much anywhere you would go to hangout with children you would be fine.

Except circus circus and excalibur it tends to be pretty smoky as you work your way through to the midway areas, but it does fall in line with the rule of older hotels being more smoky

Thank you !
Platinum hotel seems fine but I am a bit hesitant about the walk to the Strip (especially when walking in hot weather). Probably better to look for a hotel on the strip as this is our first visit. Anyone know a hotel on the strip that is smoke free ? Or not as smoky as others ? Thanks

Back in the dark ages when I was a kid, the only restaurant in Vegas that allowed kids to eat there, had nude pics on the walls, and the cigarette smoke was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

I'm glad they're making progress, at least. Maybe in another 50 years....

All of the hotel restaurants are now non-smoking. Most of the hotels ONLY allow smoking in the casino....not along the walkways or shopping areas.

There are now designated non-smoking floors at all of the hotels on the Strip.

You'll still smell the smoke and probably run into the occasional person who either can't read the signs or just doesn't care, but for the most part, even Las Vegas has done its part to help clean the air.

It would be easier to tell you where NOT to stay.
Do not stay at Circus-Circus
Do not stay at Excalibur
Do not stay at Harrah's
Do not stay at the Stratosphere
Do not stay at the Riviera

Hmmm...there are a few more...older ones, mostly, where the smell is so deeply imbedded they'll never get it all out.

New York New York has a GREAT, huge game room for the kids (and adults!) and the roller coaster. You do have to walk around the outer edge of the casino to get to the elevators to the rooms, though...but it's only bad if you come through the entrance at the walkway that connects NY NY to the MGM or to the Excalibur.

Thank you so much for the NOT to stay list, very useful. We have now selected the following hotels to choose from, The Signature, Trump, Mandalay Bay or MGM.

Does this mean that kids are not allowed to walk through the casino's ?
I read that you have to walk through the hotel casino's if you want to visit those hotels. We plan to have a look at a few famous hotels, e.g. Mirage, Caesar's, Bellagio etc but can we do that with the kids ? Just wondering whether kids are allowed to walk through the casinos or are they totally banned. TIA

Most of the casinos have walkways where the kids can walk...as long as you keep walking and don't stop to watch the players. Everyone there knows that walking through is the only way to get from Point A to Point B. Just don't "cut through" the slot machines or table games...stay on the pathway.

Mandalay Bay is great for kids, it has Shark Reef, and a beach pool. It's connected by tram and walkways to the Luxor, which I think is where the Titanic Exhibit is now, then on to Excalibur, who has a GREAT game room, then on to NY NY with their game room. And just across (via walkway) is the MGM (also Signature) which has Rainforest Cafe and the (small) lion exhibit.

I haven't stayed at Trump, but it's clear at the opposite end of the strip and it's only redeeming feature seems to be that it's close to the Fashipn Show Mall.

What I was saying about NY NY wasn't very clear.
If you enter through the main front doors, and walk to the left, it's easier to avoid the casino area and the smoke. If you enter from up above (one of the walkways from MGM or Excalibur) and then proceed down the escalator to the hotel/casino, you'll walk smack through the middle of the casino....but it IS allowed, even with kids.

I believe the Vdara is a non-smoking hotel and an all-suites hotel.

There isn't gaming there either.

Might be a nice possibility

Awww...that's too bad. It's been a couple of years since we've stayed at the MGM. It wasn't much of an exhibit, but it was something to do. I miss the tigers not being at the Mirage, too.
