Fantasy 4C or 7A Navigators Veranda

OK, Christmas 2012 its just me and my DD (10) that will be going on our first DCL cruise ever! I'm wondering if a 7A is OK for just the 2 of us or should I keep my 4C category. I'd be saving over $1,000 by switching to the 7A... humm, perhaps I just answered my own question!

If anyone has stayed on the Dream in Room 9512 or any room with a Navigator's Veranda I'd love your input.

Thanks so much in advance!

This was originally a category 5A stateroom, but they recategorized some of the rooms due to obstructions etc, so now it is a 7A. So you are getting a 5A stateroom for a 7A price

See below

Disney Cruise Line has decided to recategorize some staterooms on the Dream and Fantasy. Effective October 20th, 120 rooms will be recategorized into 5 new categories:

•4E - Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah - Oversized Verandah
•5E - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah - Oversized Verandah, some with solid white wall
•7A - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator Verandah, Undersized or Obstructed Verandah
•9C - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, One Porthole, Obstructed View
•9D - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, One Porthole, Obstructed View - limited view of ocean

If you have a reservation in one of these rooms and your new category is higher, your price will not change. If your new category is lower, your price will go down.

Here are the rooms affected:

Previously Category 9A

Now Category 9C: 7000 – 7004, 7500 – 7502, 8000 – 8004, 8500 – 8502

Now Category 9D: 6000 – 6006, 6500 – 6504, 7006 & 7504, 8006 & 8504

Previously Category 6B

Now Category 7A: 5180 & 5680, 5188 & 5688, 6178 & 6678, 7182 & 7680

Now Category 5E: 6190 & 6690, 6192, 7190 – 7194, 7688 – 7690

Previously Category 6A

Now Category 7A: 8176 & 8674, 9164 & 9664

Now Category 5E: 8184 – 8188, 8682 – 8684, 9170 – 9176, 9670 – 9674, 10158 – 10166, 10658 – 10664

Previously Category 5E

Now Category 7A: 5024 & 5524

Now Category 4E: 5026 – 5052, 5150 – 5164, 5526 – 5552, 5650 – 5664

Previously Category 5C

Now Category 7A: 7022 & 7520, 7170 & 7668

Previously Category 5B

Now Category 7A: 8022 & 8520, 8164 & 8662

Previously Category 5A

Now Category 7A: 9012 & 9512, 9152 & 9652

Havent been in 9512, but have sailed in a 4C last year. The cabins were very nice, but for only two people, I'd go with the 7A and save the $1,000. With 4 of us (and our kids are bigger) I'd stick with the 4C.

7A Category is different by class of ship. Magic and Wonder have category 7 Navigator Verandah's (sort of enclosed with a large port hole open to the sea - most have bench seating, navigation gadgets built into the wall and a table and a chair). Originally the Dream and Fantasy did not have cat 7 rooms. Since many issues arose with obstructed view verandahs from the design curves on the Dream these staterooms with the obstructed/limited views are now re-categorized as cat 7A on the Dream and the Fantasy. So in the OP question about a Navigator Verandah on the Fantasy you would not have a Category 7A Navigator Verandah on the Fantasy a Category 7A would be a stateroom with a verandah that has some sort of limited view/obstruction.

I stayed in one of the "partially obstructed view" cabins on the Magic--it was an absolute bargain. THe "obstruction" was very minimal, and for 2 of us, it was great. This originally was a cat 5, downgraded to a 7 due to the "obstruction." Obviously I haven't seen the cabin on the Fantasy, but there is a lot I could do with $1000. I'd trade that for a little decrease in the view!

I realize this is an old thread that has been silent, but for those of you who stayed in 9512, how was it? Was the obstruction a problem? Any pictures? We are in this room in December and I was feeling pretty good about it until I read some other posts. What did you guys think?
