6 hours til flight. ever dash to WDW for 1 park?

We have a flight that leaves at 4:30PM on embarkation day. We are tempted to check our luggage and then dash to the park for 3, maybe even 3 1/2 hours.

1) Think we're crazy?
2) If not, best way to get there and back? My understanding is that we cannot use Mickey express since no resort ressie that day.
3) please don't tell us that they won't let us check our luggage that early.... just thought of that possibility...

thanks to all!

For the price or a single WDW ticket? In a word, no.
Many (all?) Airlines will not check luggage more than 4 hours pre-flight. Downtown Disney *might* be an option, if you had a rental car.

If you are on a participating airline, they will take your luggage from the ship. If you are on the ship, you can't check luggage until 4 hours before your flight.

Would I do to a park for 3 hours--no way. One day tickets are a total rip off! I'd do Downtown Disney or one of the resorts though. The best way to get there would be a rental car. You get the car at Cape Canaveral, store your luggage in the trunk, and don't have to depend on other people to get you where you need to be. It is about an hour drive from the cruise terminal to WDW, about 30 minutes from WDW to the airport. Car drop off at MCO takes about 30 seconds!

Just this. This was our situation a couple months ago. By the time we actually got to DTD, had lunch, walked around a little bit, it was time to head to the airport. Time goes by waaayy too fast.

Thanks

Thanks to all. very helpful. I have to admit, I was so focused on spending more time at a park that I forgot the $$$ It may help to know that we already have 2 days we were going to do pre-cruise, so going from 2 to 3 day pass is a little more tolerable.... but I am going to talk with the family about doing Downtown Disney instead.

My understanding is that you have to have DCL transfer (port to airport) to be able to check luggage from the ship. (if it helps, we are using Delta)

May I suggest a visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge? If you make a dining reservation, you can park there for free. You could enjoy a nice meal (the buffet at Boma is quite nice), and it's a great resort to explore, because they have a savannah with live animals on it.

Otherwise, Downtown Disney is the way I would go.

Renting a car at Canaveral, luggage in the trunk and DTD is a good way to spend the day. Another option is to book a 'day room' at the Hyatt at the airport. You can relax by the pool and you have a hotel room to change and get ready for your flight.

If you have annual passes or you are just going to Downtown Disney then yes be sure to go. I have done it a few times. I think the best way is to rent a car as it might be cheaper to do it that way.

Have a great cruise!!!

The fine print actually says that you must use DCL transfers one way--but it doesn't specify that it must be the port to airport leg (I know, that's the only way it makes sense, but that isn't the way it's written).

I think you'd be cutting it awful close time wise. Especially MK, from where you park to where you enter the gates it is 20ish minutes each way, so that's 1/3 or your time just in transit. I agree with everyone about DTD, maybe do one of the putt-putt golf courses. They are so fun and cute. My kids love the Winter-Summer land one over by Blizzard beach best. It is themed in two ways, one course is the North Pole and the other is Santa's Summer vacation.

You could also head over to the Beach Club or Boardwalk and walk around there, grab lunch and if there's time head over to the Fantasia Gardens mini golf course.
