Those sound great!

We've been on three cruises - this will be our fourth -- unless we can figure out a way for DW & I to get in a quick 3 or 4 day between now & then and we've never participated in a FE. Is it more for younger kids? How time consuming/expensive it it to pull everything together?

My last cruise had a very small group too it was strange because my first cruise in 2011 the group was super active.

I reserved us one night at Jambo house before the cruise since I want to fly in the night before and it won't cost us any money for the room

Just over 8 months to go! I just did a quick count of the posters on the thread, and it looks like we have 39 adults and 23 children for a total of 62 DISers on board!

Is there anyone with previous Western Caribbean cruise experience? I've been scouting excursions for this cruise - I'm thinking we might go with DCL to do the Chaccoben ruin tour in Costa Maya and the Cozumel History and Maya Ruins tour (to Sao Gervaiso) in Cozumel. The second one actually appeals to me more than the first - the idea of an hour on a bus to get there isn't terribly exciting given the short amount of time we're in port.

Thought about it -- along with trying to figure out how to get another cruise in before July .

This will be our first 7 night cruise -- we typically overpack, I'm worried we won't have any room in the cabin.

July can't get here quick enough.

We usually overpack as well, so I've come to the conclusion that if I just plan on doing laundry so I can convince myself to pack less, then I'll probably pack just enough to get away without having to do laundry at all!

The hardest part is the formal/semi-formal nights - but if you plan on re-wearing similar clothes and just changing shirts/accessories, you can still get away with packing a little less.

Recently booked 7/6/13 Western

Hello!

We recently had to move our cruise from the 6/22 Western to this date
Due to hurricane Sandy, our schools were closed for 4 days, making the last day of school for us June 24th. Last year we were out by June 13th so I thought we'd be safe booking 6/22 . Anyway,we're looking forward to cruising with all of you. It seems like many of our children will be around the same age. Our DD will be 15, DS1 will be 13, and DS2 will be 11.
We are new to the seven day itinerary and these ports of call. We've been to Nassau on the last 3 cruises and we could give all sorts of input for that port. We will be looking for advice for Costa Maya and Cozumel. I already read that the ruins in Costa Maya are better? Has anyone else heard anything?

Well it looks like we have about 6 1/2 months to go! Woo hoo!

Leah

Welcome!

We are also open to ideas on the ports as well. We've only done Nassau and Castaway Cay.

Missing our two stops at CC on the five night Dream itinerary -- we've done that the last two years.

First time for us on a 7 night as well.

Hello all,
Lurking on board for a while. Of late anticipating a stay in WDW in December but seeing that is now behind me (sad) looking forward to our first DCL experience. We will be a family group of 14 (8 adults and 6 kids aged 13 to 5) celebrating my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary. Looking for any helpful hints regarding cruising with a group. Cannot wait until July
Thanks

All booked and can't wait

Greetings,
My name is Laura, my sons(14, 12) will be joining me. We did the 3 day Dream in October and we loved it so much I couldn't wait to book another one. I haven't told the boys yet, but they'll be very excited since their only complaint last cruise was that it went way too fast.

This site is fantastic for ideas. There are a few others that are very good too. If you are interested in a book -- I recommend the Passporters book.

This will be our fourth cruise -- first 7 night. It can't get here soon enough. We are a family of five. Me, DW, DS17, DS15, DD12.

Happy planning!

I don't think anyone ever answered this. We never found it time consuming (we take delivering as an opportunity to explore the decks and see the cool door decorations), and it can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want. Some of the most memorable gifts we've gotten were fairly inexpensive to make - bookmarks, foam coffee cup cozies, scrapbook cutouts (made on a cricut), etc.

I wouldn't say it's just for younger kids, either, though they enjoy it a lot. We've gotten small bottles of alcohol in our FE for the adults in the past. Typically there's a little something for everyone. I usually do something practical for the adults and something fun for the kids. I also have a bad habit of haunting the dollar sections of Target and Michael's to find inexpensive Disney things (tattoos, stickers, etc) to include - they often have lanyards and things as well, which can come in handy!
