However, we do all our excursions either on our own or with a private company so I feel better if I have our passports with us. That way if we miss the ship we can get to the next port more easily.

I'm from Huntington Long Island and my DH Darren is from Westchester.

Us too.
Not sure if I will skip walking the walls in favor of shopping
Depends how hot it is that day

It is a lot of fun. Something one of the Disers came up with, I think back in 2005 on a Panama canal cruise.
With the number of people joining being relatively low it doesn't take long to deliver your gifts. I swore after my last cruise that I would not do it again if the number was high (above 50 cabins) as it took much longer than I wanted to spend delivering things
But the number for this cruise is low and your kids will love this!

The door decorating also makes it so much easier to spot your door in the long hallway of white doors. The signs have to be magnetic though, no tape.
Also don't put a magnet that isn't easily replaceable because sometimes they walk away

I would make sure your kids know in advance that certain things won't be available on the Magic...the aquaduck, the midship detective agency, the moving pictures, the vista café, kid's clubs will be different, etc.
But this trip is SO port intensive that they will be tired from the excursions each day anyway. This trip is more about the ports than it is about the ship.

yeah that seems to happen to my birthday too
Also in March
But I turn 50 next year
Thinking I might be going back next year with just my DH for a Rome/Florence/Venice land vacation in March...
Really want to visit Ireland but March isn't the best time of year to visit so thinking of saving that for another trip.

Glad you went the route of posting info so we got to know you a little

Sounds great
I noticed most people don't remember the names of the restaurants they visit on vacation
We went to Paris last summer and none of my siblings could remember where they ate on their visits
At least you have the location, they didn't even have that.
And, I'm just as bad I'd maybe able to find the names of one or two places, if I looked at my emails
I did take a photo of the place we had lunch in Berlin so I have a fighting chance of finding it again.

So how do you remember the names
Must write these down now
I keep looking for the 'like' button here. Scooby!!! You definitely made me LOL!!! Looking forward to our "meet up"!!

I worry about this happening all the time. We keep getting emails that our flights have changed but so far it is just the times and our layover just keeps getting longer and longer.

smart
We have dinner covered as we are doing a Tapas tour the first night where the guide gives you recommendations for the next night based on what you liked on his tour.
But we will be looking for a place to eat lunch as soon as we arrive.

I've heard good things about Viator but never used them.

Bummer

Fish extender sign-up ends tomorrow

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to mention that the Fish Extender sign-up ends tomorrow, so if you haven't signed up and want to, please do. If you're signed up and don't want to, then please change to No. And if you're undecided, please change to Yes or No accordingly.

Here's the link:

Group Spreadsheet.

Right now we have 20 families signed up, so it's still a manageable group.

There are the Undecideds:
lmcarr (I think you're also listed on the spreadsheet as lisamcarr)
dorothyn
redcoral33
dakridge
teerama
klar
friedrich2010

Thanks so much!

We have some Door Magnets that we've used in the past that we'll be bringing. I was debating about whether to make some new ones or not but I think I'll run out of time so we'll just go with what we already have.

In the past, some of the FE gifts we have received have been door magnets specifically for the itinerary - so that's been fun to have those additions to our door.

Shore Excursions

Can't believe it's just a little over 2 months till we leave!

Today, I decided to get a bit organized. I printed out the descriptions of the shore excursions we booked through DCL. It's nice to read it over the night before the excursion to know what we can expect and to make sure we have the suggested items. I put each one in a seperate envelope and add the tip that I anticipate giving. You may call me crazy, but it helps my organization.

Tomorrow, I plan on reconfirming my post-night hotel reservation and making copies of our passports.

Still haven't heard of any others joining us for the pre-cruise Adventures By Disney. I happy to report that it wasn't cancelled, but sure wish I had some Disers joining us.

Decided not to join in the Fish Extenders; just too much going on here to get organized. We have a family wedding the weekend before the trip, and our schools don't get out till the middle of June.

It's starting to really become a reality!!!

I booked my hot air balloon ride today. Only thing left to book is the gondola ride. If anyone is in Barcelona on the 10th of July and wants to do a balloon ride let me know.

Thanks for the tip to pre-book your tickets for the tour bus in Barcelona..gotta add that to my list! I have to thank all of your for so many great tips (both on here and fb) between the tour bus tickets, my new pacsafe bag, and the secret itineraries tour (belles mommy...we are on the 11:15ish?? one) our trip is coming together nicely.
We have updated ours to No as well. I was looking forward to it but I have started packing and we just don't have room on a 2-week trip. Have a great time!

We are on that tour as well. I am REALLY looking forward to it

Once you get your airline confirmation # you can go to the airline's website and move your seats. We also make sure that we check in early at the airport so that they can move seats around if necessary. That way we are assured that everyone in our party sits together for all flights.

Great ideas! I am an obsessive planner as well. Because this is such a port intensive trip and DD (8) will be going on some very mature port adventures, I have been putting together games to keep her engaged. We have Bingo in Villefranche where she has to mark off the places as we visit them and she gets a small prize when she Bingos and then another when she clears her board. We are doing Florence on Your Own and trekking off to the Uffizi. I found the Uffizi gallery page on line and they list the paintings by room. I chose 1 or 2 paintings from each room, copied the image and printed them on small pocket-sized cards on a ring. As we enter each room, I give her a card and she has to find the painting. When she shows me the painting, I will give her a small monetary gift to put in a little pouch and she gets to add the card to a ring that she will be wearing. At the end of the museum visit, she can use that money in the gift shop. Now to come up with fun games for the rest of the ports.
