Another Dis member mentioned she asked for a voucher with a confirmation number so that she could link it to her MDE and make her FP+ ressies. the rep emailed it 60 days out and she made her ressies. I was able to find one that meets our schedule. I hope I can work it with FP+. Bye!
Please let us know how this works out. We aren't going until late October but we'd like to order tickets and na down our schedule as soon as possible.

We are going from April 25-May 2nd. I called and was told that the individual enrollment classes would not be going on at that time. Are there any other options? Or, are we just out of luck? I LOVE adding education to our trip...and the discount is awesome too!

I just wanted to post a brief review of the YES class my daughters took yesterday. It was Properties of Motion (Physics 101). I think the age range for this class is 8-11 (my daughters are 10 and 9).

My husband took the girls because I had our son and youngest daughter. Everyone thought the class was great. They got to ride Space Mountain once with the lights on and again with them off so they could observe how the darkness made the ride feel different. I have their notes of sensations they felt, when they felt positive g's and lateral g's. They learned about pneumatics, centripetal force, lateral and vertical acceleration, and a few other things (I was a theatre major in college and then went to law school - my husband has a degree in mechanical engineering, so he might be the better person to post this).

After riding, they guessed how fast Space Mountain was, for example. DD10 guessed 45 MPH. The actual speed was 27 MPH. They also guessed the height at the top of the coaster (DD10 guessed 50 feet, actual height was 70.5). They also rode Big Thunder and Buzz. My middle daughter is terrified of roller coasters, so she only went on Buzz. She didn't enjoy the class as much because of that. I think she was just sad that so much of it focused on roller coasters. I knew that would be the case, and she was prepared for it. Obviously not the fault of the class - just something you might want to keep in mind before signing your child up. It's hard to coordinate all our kids, so we had to sign them up for the same class. I don't know if we'll be able to do the classes in the future (obviously depends on what Disney offers in two years). My son, who would be 8 then, would love to take the class, I think. He went on SM for the first time and loved it. DD10 is thrilled to have a sibling who will ride with her.

I would highly recommend it if you have a child who loves roller coasters and science - DD10 thought it was cool to learn about what makes the coasters fun.

Last year, they took the marine conservation class. I think both girls were a bit bored with it. Even my middle daughter, who loves everything marine life and wants to rescue sea turtles when she gets older. I suspect the pace of the class was just different, and three hours was a bit long for that one. If anyone has questions, please post them and I'll ask DD10 if she can help.

Thanks for the review!! I think both my kids would love this class! My dd and I went to the marine conservation class in 2012. It was very boring compared to how you describe this class! I might reconsider taking the YES class if both kids can be in the same class and ride fun rides at the same time.

I'll be honest, I was hesitant to book another class because the girls were so underwhelmed with the marine conservation class. But the class description for this one seemed promising. My oldest said it was her favorite part of the trip. I think physics 201 covers the monorail. My middle daughter would be totally up for that one!

The marine conservation class isn't the same as the careers in marine sciences, is it? My DD is very excited about the careers in marine sciences class as she wants to be a marine biologist so this class sounds really exciting to her. The conservation class is for kids in elementary and middle school while the careers class is for kids in middle and high school. I sure hope they're different from what people are saying about the conservation class being boring.

Has anybody heard anything about whether or not tickets have to actually be picked up at Will Call if they're linked to MDE and you have Magic Bands? Will they already be active on the MBs?

They are different classes. My kids went to the Discovering Marine Life Conservation class, which is for ages 8-11. I think you should be okay.

I forgot to mention the tickets. I went to AK when we first arrived so I could get the tickets. I'd linked them in MDE and had my fastpasses, but I wasn't sure whether they'd work to get in the parks with the magic bands (thought they were supposed to but who knows with Disney IT). We were staying at AKL and AK was just a five minute bus ride, so it wasn't a big deal. We didn't have to pick anything up. Since they were linked, we didn't need physical tickets. I suppose I could have pushed for them in case there were problems with the bands. The CMs definitely weren't offering the physical tickets and just said we didn't need them. So, as far as I can tell, they were active and nothing was done when we stopped at GR. That said, if it's easy to pop over and check, I probably would any way.

I am thinking about taking another group for the YES program. In the past, the tickets just said "youth" on them. Is this still the case with the magicbands? Are their names attached to the tickets? It just makes me nervous if I buy them and someone backs out. I can probably find someone else to go, but I would be worried with the names on them or if I had a slightly different mix of parents/kids. Thanks!

I am taking my girl scout troop in July. We are planning on taking a YES program. I have never done this so I'm a little nervous about doing this. I just want to make sure that we can have our tix loaded on our bands to make it easier. I have 4 15year olds going and I want it to be as easy as possible to get through park admission and other things we have planned. We are staying at OKW. Wish me luck. Just booked flights tonight

Yes tickets have always been attached to the person during the purchase. I doubt switching up is allowed. Unless you plan to send them to the class and lie about who they are...

I'm going to post the summer schedule for future reference. It seems that at least one of us ends up wanting to know the previous year's offerings/days of the week. If I post it here, I'll be able to find it later if someone needs it. It might take some searching, but at least it will be here to find lol.

UGH!! The 02/24/14 Fundamentals of Photo Storytelling: Images with Impact class was cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. My 16yo will not be interested in the other classes offered at that same time. I'm actually surprised they were even offered since she's 16 and the classes show that they both go to 15. I suppose they're making an exception, or else they can't do math (she turned 16 in 2014 so maybe they're realize she's 16?).
