Thanks!!
Surely if she is old enough to attend the class she is old enough to understand spin vs not spin.

Since Test Track is currently closed for refurbishment, they are substituting Mission Space.

Thanks!
I have heard that they are very strict concerning age, but I don't have any first-hand experience with that. I would recommend that you call the YES office and explain the situation to them, then ask if she would be permitted to join the class. I think they will say "No" but you won't know until you ask.

Some of the classes look at the age and grade, if she is registered in the appropriate grade level it should not be a problem. You should still call I would just point out what grade she is in.

Hi,

What we did in our class was all walk through the que together all the way to where they board. We then walked out as they boarded. The instructor did not ride so we waited for the riders in the inside exit area. I am sure you can mention to your instructor that you would prefer to wait outside the ride building. If Dana is your leader, you are all set. She was so nice and I know she would do whatever to make your daughter feel comfortable.

Have fun!

Uh, not exactly! My daughter is deathly afraid of Spaceship Earth because she is convinced that it's going to detach from the support beams and roll down the pathway of Epcot. She is older than 10 too. No matter how many times I explain the safety of Spaceship Earth, she refuses to believe it.

OP, if your daughter isn't convinced about the non-spinning side, I'd just have her wait at the exit for the rest of the group.

I'm sure this is answered somewhere but I searched and I couldn't find it. We are going to Epcot for Synergy in Science and the class is at 8:30 AM. What do we do when we get to the park? I assume they scan their tickets and go to an information center? If so, can they hand me thier tickets as they enter so I can get FP later? Myself and other DD wll be waiting at the gate until park opening. Thanks!

Just did the Physics: Properties of Motion today @ MK.
What a great class!! DD13 loved it and even opened up and interacted when the instructor called on her.

We began at the TTC, got signed in and had a short briefing, then hopped on the monorail to head for MK. On the way, we learned about OHERC, gravity and inertia.
When we reached the MK, we went through security and the ticket turnstiles, and then headed over to Tomorrowland.
Time for more instruction and teaching, but it was really fun for the kids (and these were teenagers!!)
After a little bit of time experimenting with toy roller coasters, we were off to Space Mtn.
We rode once with the lights on, and once in the dark. Super cool to see it with the lights on!
From there we had a teaching session (Stitch sat in on that part for a little while) concerning hydraulics and pneumatics and how they are utilized in the attractions at Disney.
Next jumped over to Buzz Lightyear to watch for examples of each.
Finally, we trucked ourselves across the park for one more teaching session about centripetal force and lateral g-force. We ended with a ride on BTMRR since it included all of the things we learned throughout the day.

I cannot say enough good things about our instructor, Aaron.
He was very good at his job, and sincerely appeared to enjoy what he was doing.
He interacted with the kids and adults, and made the learning process a lot of fun for all.

On the downside, I just got an email saying DD's second class, Captivating Moments, has been cancelled. I don't have the heart to tell her yet.
I will have to call to see if she can get into the next one. Fortunately we are here for an extended period of time. Here's hoping she can get in, because she was really looking forward to that class.

Thank you for the great and thorough review! Sorry to hear your other class got cancelled. My dd12 is taking Captivating Moments on 10/2 so I'm really hoping your dd can still get in to that one on another date (because I selfishly want to read your feedback before we go!)

Glad that Physics was fun. If you're going to have to learn about it anyway, there's no better place than at Disney where it's put into action every day.

Does anyone know when dates for classes beyond Oct. 31 will be announced? We are going in January and my kids would love to participate. I had called months ago and the person I spoke to said they would be having the classes in January but didn't know when it would be posted. Wasn't sure if anyone had experience with this. Thanks!

This makes me laugh. I once got sick after eating a BK chicken sandwich. I ended up having the flu. That was a dozen years ago and I still havent had that sandwich again! I'm 33, surely old enough to know I could go back into BK, eat a chicken sandwich and be fine.

But don't we really want our kids to go beyond incorrect thinking? Lol, I deal with cognitive stuff with kids, teaching them to take control of their thought processes. Actualy fo the same with prisoners in a transition house. In both cases it is helpful. so I do admit my bias!

Last year when we did Synergy in Science everyone met outside of the turnstiles. I want to say it was by guest services, but I just walked along the turnstiles until I saw the people with all the blue polo shirts on! We then split up into groups, took attendance and got name tags. Then our small group went through the turnstiles together. If you are not going with your kids I'm not sure what the policy is about you standing by the turnstile and taking their ticket after it is scanned.

I think Jan/Feb classes started in Sept/Oct last year. If you keep subscribed to this thread, it will be posted as soon as it opens.

Oddly enough, I agree with your criticism!! However, this isn't the only irrational fear she has, so I've learned to tolerate them. There are many, and either she is going to have to toughen herself up and face her fears or she is going to face a lifetime of anxiety issues. I was just posting about what to do in Grand Cayman on cruise critic. (we're going on the fantasy the week before Disney) She recently got over her fear of flying bugs. It lasted almost 2 years after being stung by a wasp. She would scream and run at the sight of any flying bug, including gnats. It was very frustrating. This summer she went to church camp (no fear of that) and they had a big lake with water toys. We live on a lake, so she was fine with it. Until she was swimming and felt something touch her leg. The councilor likened her response to "walking on water". Once they got her calmed down, another councilor came out of the lake bleeding. She was bitten or scratched by the scales of a fish. She lost it all over again, and then on vacation wouldn't get past ankle deep in the ocean, and didn't want to go out on our boat. When I brought up Sting rays (she's fascinated with them) for Grand Cayman, I was thrilled when she said she wanted to do it!! That is... until she saw a fish in one of the pictures. So, is it silly for someone her age to be scared of a ride that made her puke, a gnat, or a fish (and a multitude of other things), but not a wild stingray with barbs attached? YES!!, but that's not gonna make it any easier to convince her to go on the ride, even non spinning! I am already talking with her, and hopefully I can get some of her friends who have done both to explain it to her, as well.
