Laurie, I wanted to share this here.

The Special Mother

Did you ever wonder how mothers of sick children were chosen?
Somehow I visualize God hovering over the earth selecting his instruments of propagation with great care and deliberation. As He observes, He instructs His angels to make notes in a giant ledger.
"This one gets a daughter. The Patron saint will be Cecelia"
"This one gets twins. The Patron saint will be Matthew"
"This one gets a son. The Patron saint.....give her Gerard. He's used to profanity"
Finally He passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a sick child".
The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy"
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a sick child to a mother who does not know laughter? That would be cruel!"
"But has she patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience or she will drown in a sea of sorrow and despair. Once the shock and resentment wears off, she'll handle it. I watched her today, she has that feeling of self and independence that is so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has his own world. She has to make him live in her world and that's not going to be easy."
"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you"
God smiles, "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect - she has just enough selfishness"
The angel gasps - "Selfishness? is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally she won't survive. Yes here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't realize it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a 'spoken word'. She will never consider any 'step' ordinary. When her child says "Momma" for the first time she will be present at a miracle and will know it. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see...ignorance, cruelty and prejudice...and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as if she is here by my side"
"And what about her Patron saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in mid air.
God smiles "A mirror will suffice"

I wish there was going to be a time for us to get over to AKL to see their decorations, but I just dont know if it can happen this trip. We may try and get over there towards the end of our trip on a rest day...OR, if we finish up everything we want to do at AK and have time to kill before we need to be somewhere else...still working on it.

I always hear great things about Boma, so I hope you enjoy it.

We are going to try Sanaa for dinner next Oct when we go.

I hope you'll be able to get there....I've seen pics & things on specials and it was definitely one of the resorts we had high on our list. Boma seemed like the best option for my family....not sure the other restaurants would go over too well.

Now our financial situation has to make a HUGE rebound......even with the IRS check (if it gets here in time), we're still gonna come up short. Need my son to find work so his pay goes directly towards this trip. Prayers needed he finally finds something!!! (been since Feb that he's been looking) I'm starting to panic!

We've switched to Port Orleans French Quarter but we may be staying one night at the Pop & one night somewhere else (possibly All Star Movies) on either end of our trip. We're super excited too!!!!

Free dining extended to 20th December this morning!! I called and booked mine - saved me $1000 so I upgraded my room lol

So excited...everyone get calling before they run out of spaces!!

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the free dining!!!

I don't think we'll be able to, because we'd have to totally rebook the whole thing & when I was running the numbers, we really weren't gaining anything to do it. Maybe a little, but not worth having to start over. (and it looks like we'd have to change resorts now too). Besides, I don't have the deposit money to book the 2nd package which we would need. We're just hoping to work everything out so we actually go!!

I think that good things come to good people - and because of this I'm sure you will be fine!! I know sometimes I think things are just falling apart and somehow it all comes together.

Thank you, I appreciate that!! You're not the first person to tell us we deserve this.....but the way these last couple years have gone.....I'm just not sure I can be super positive. Just kinda been one thing after another.....I am so totally ready for things to turn around.....we keep trying & smiling and hoping!!!

I won't give up until the last second.........
